Özet
Bu araştırma, farklı bölümlerde ve sınıflarda eğitim gören Selçuk Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi öğrencilerinin iletişim kaygılarının ne düzeyde olduğunu belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışma ayrıca, iletişim kaygısının cinsiyet, yaş, sınıf, bölüm, yaşanılan yerleşim yerinin niteliği ve genel not ortalaması ile ilişkisini analiz etmiştir. Çalışma, Selçuk Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi'nde 2019-2020 eğitim öğretim yılı içerisinde eğitim hayatına devam eden farklı sınıflardaki ve bölümlerdeki 390 lisans öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öğrencilerin iletişim kaygısı düzeylerinin ne olduğu ve iletişim kaygısı ile demografik değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiyi anlamayı hedefleyen çalışmanın verileri, online anket uygulanarak 2020 yılı içerisinde toplanmış ve istatistik programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Veri analizleri öğrencilerin orta düzeyde iletişim kaygısı yaşadıklarını göstermiştir. Bununla birlikte bulgular, kadın öğrencilerin erkek öğrencilere göre daha yüksek düzeyde iletişim kaygısına sahip olmasıyla cinsiyet değişkenine göre anlamlı farklılıklar olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca, kişilerarası iletişim kaygısı ve genel iletişim kaygısı alt boyutunda daha genç öğrencilerin iletişim kaygısı seviyesi yaşça daha büyük öğrencilere göre yüksek bulunmuştur. Son olarak kişilerarası iletişim kaygısı ile katılımcı öğrencilerin sınıfları arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Buna göre birinci sınıfta okuyan öğrencilerin son sınıfta okuyan öğrencilere göre kişilerarası iletişim kaygısı düzeyi daha yüksektir. İletişim kaygısı ile yaşanılan yer ve genel not ortalaması ile ölçülen akademik başarı arasında bir ilişki bulunamamıştır.
This research was conducted to determine the level of communication apprehension of the Faculty of Communication students studying in different departments and classes. The study also analyzed the relationship between communication apprehension with gender, age, class, department, nature of the settlement and GPA. The study was carried out with 390 undergraduate students from different classes and departments who continued their education life in Selcuk University Faculty of Communication in 2019-2020 academic year. The data of the study, which aims to understand the communication apprehension levels of the students and the relationship between communication apprehension and demographic variables, were collected a web based survey method in 2020 and analyzed with a statistics program. Data analysis showed that students experienced moderate communication apprehension. However, the findings showed that there are significant differences related to the gender variable, with female students having a higher level of communication apprehension than male students. In addition, in the interpersonal communication apprehension and general communication apprehension sub-dimension, the communication apprehension level of younger students was found to be higher than the older students. Finally, a significant relationship was found between the interpersonal communication apprehension and the classes of the students who participated in this survey. According to this, the level of interpersonal communication apprehension is higher in the first year students compared to the students in the last year. No relationship has been found between communication apprehension and the place experienced and academic success.
