Özet
Modernleşme, kavram olarak Aydınlanma ile başlayan evre olarak tanımlanabilir. Aklın önünü açan, her alanda yeni bir düzeni öngören sistem, Batı’da doğal olarak yaşanan bir evreyken, diğer toplumlarda bir “modernleştirme” sürecine dönüşmüştür. Avrupa kaynaklı bu evre, özellikle Türk modernleşmesi yaşanırken, geleneğin yok sayılması üzerinden ikame edilmiştir. Bu da toplumda derin bir bilinç yarılmasını beraberinde getirmiştir. “Modernleştiricilik” devlet eliyle topluma dikey bir biçimde giydirildiği için birey, zihnen geçmişe bağlı, şeklen yeniye uyum sağlama telaşında, bir kimlik bunalımı ve yabancılaşma içine girmiştir. Söz konusu süreç sıklıkla sanatçılar tarafından eserlere konu edilmiştir. Bu açıdan hem Türk modernleşmesine tanıklık eden bir aydın olması hem de estetik üslubu ile Türk romanının öncü denilebilecek eserlerini yazmasıyla dikkati çeken Abdülhak Şinasi Hisar (1887-1963) da metinlerinde bu konuya yer vermiştir. Sanatçının ilk romanı olan Fahim Bey ve Biz (1941), modernleşme eksenindeki toplumun sosyal, siyasal, sanatsal ve bireysel dönüşümlerini, yaşanan krizleri gösteren önemli bir eserdir. Çalışmamızda öncelikli olarak modernlik, modernleşme ve modernleştirme bağlamında Türk toplumundaki değişim kısaca ele alınacak ardından bunun romana yansıyan en belirgin örneklerinden biri olan Fahim Bey tiplemesi üzerinden bir kimlik bunalımı ve yabancılaşma okuması yapılmaya çalışılacaktır
Modernization, as a concept, can be defined as the phase that begins with the Enlightenment. The system, which paves the way for the wisdom and foresees a new order in every field, has turned into a modernization process in other societies although it is a natural phase in the West. This phase, originated from the West, was replaced by the disregarding of tradition, especially during Turkish modernization. This has brought about a deep disruption of consciousness in society. Because modernism is dressed vertically to society by the state, the individual is mentally connected with the past, but is hasty to adapt to the new formally and he/she is in a crisis of identity and alienation. This process has often been the subject of literary works. In this respect, Abdülhak Şinasi Hisar (1887-1963), being an intellectual witnessing Turkish modernization and attracting attention with his aesthetic style and writing literary works that can be called as the pioneer of Turkish novel, has mentioned this subject in his texts. The first novel of the artist, Fahim Bey ve Biz (1941), is an important literary work that shows the social, political, artistic and individual transformations of the society in process of modernization and the crises experienced in this phase. In our study, first of all, the change in Turkish society in the context of modernity and modernization will be discussed briefly and then an identity crisis and alienation reading will be attempted via Fahim Bey typage which is one of the most prominent examples reflecting on the novel.
