Electronic commerce, which is realized through carrying out one or more of the business transactions in the electronic environment, is composed of three stages as advertisement and market research, order and payment, and delivery. The fast spread of the internet has made electronic commerce a new and highly effective tool for performing business transactions. Electronic commerce has emerged as a product of the technological developments experienced in the last decade which facilitate the communication of information, together with the trend towards the liberalization of trade all around the world. Electronic commerce models, principles of electronic commerce, steps of electronic shopping and security in electronic commerce were examined within the scope of the present study. The general structure, running and implementation of electronic commerce was realized by way of a practical application.
