Scientific Research and Essays, 5(18), 2656-2663.1992-2248https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12395/24907In this study, a soil survey of Lake Tuz was performed to determine the equipment to be used to collect salt from the saltpans of Lake Tuz. Moreover, the shearing and bearing strengths of the related salt layer were calculated considering the salt production and the salt quality, and the effects of the soil contamination in the lake were investigated. For this purpose, salt blocks were cut from the Cihanbeyli-Yavsanli and Sereflikochisar-Kayacik saltpans and from various parts of the lake and then subjected to several tests in the laboratory. The physical and chemical characteristics of the salt were determined. Additionally, plate loading tests were carried out to determine the maximum wheel-load capacity of the salt layer.
