In this study multiple analysis employing GIS methodologies was conducted using geological, geomorphological, ground characteristics, flora, slope, visibility and elevations data. The reults were evaluated in order to select the most convenient site for the new Erdemli settlement area. A 8 kilometers long travertine area lying in the north of Erdemli Coastal Plain and extending parallel to the coast line with a width varying from 350 to 2000 meters is selected as the most convenient site for settlement area within the extension of the new Erdemli city centre.
