Kaybedilen topraklarda kalan binlerce Türk ve Müslüman ise yaşadıkları sıkıntılar, gördükleri baskı ve zulümler sebebiyle yurtlarını bırakarak Osmanlı sınırları içerisine doğru göç etmiştir. Muhacirlere devlet eliyle komisyonlar kurulmuş ve uygun yerler bulunarak yerleştirilmiştir. Bunun yanında muhacirlerin menfaatini sağlamak ve sıkıntılarını duyurmak amacıyla yerli ve yabancı cemiyetler kurulmuştur. Bu cemiyetlerden birisi olan Rumeli Muhâcirîn-i İslâmiye Cemiyeti, yayın organı Muhacir gazetesi vasıtasıyla muhacirlerin durumlarını tetkik ederek, sıkıntı çekenlerin ahvalini anlatmıştır. Osmanlı Devleti’nin sınırlarının sürekli olarak değiştiği ve küçüldüğü bu dönemin en önemli sosyal sıkıntılarından olan göçlerin basın eliyle ele alınışı konunun netleşmesine farklı bir boyut kazandırmaktadır. Çalışmamızda bu karışık ve acılı dönemde muhacirlerin ahvali, onlar için çıkarılmış bir gazetenin gözüyle, basın perspektifinden incelenecektir.The Ottoman Empire started to constanly lose lands after the Treaty of Karlowitz in 1699. Thousands of Turks who were stranded in the lands lost immigrated into the Ottoman lands as a result of the suffering and the oppression they faced. Immıgrants were settled to appropriate locations by commitees commisioned by the state. On the other hand, in order to get help to these immangrants and provide a voice to their needs, domestic and foreign societies were established. One of these societies “Rumelia Muslim Immigrants Society” analyzed the welfare of the immigrants and spoke about the circumstances of those in need via its newspaper: The Immigrant newspaper. The fact that the migraiton as one of the most problematic distresses of this period during which the Ottoman Empire’s borders constantly changed and got smaller was handled by the press warrants the situation in a different dimension.
