Bu çalışmada antik çağda İstanbul, antik çağda hipodromlar ve hipodrom oyunları, hipodromların antik çağdaki önemi, hipodromların sosyal yaşamdaki önemleri, hipodromların ve at yarışlarının ortaya çıkışı, Constantiopolis Hipodromu?nun mimarisi ve arkeolojisi, Constantiopolis Hipodromu?nun Anıtları (Mısır Dikilitaşı, Yılanlı Sütun, Örme Sütun gibi), bir mimarlık harikası olarak kabul edilen ve asırlarca ayakta kalmış Sphendone yapısı, Consantinopolis Hipodromu kazıları, hipodrom-saray birlikteliği ayrıntılı bir şekilde incelenmektedir. Ayrıca hipodromda yaşanan isyanların ve yangınların Constantinopolis Hipodromu?na verdiği zararlar tarihi detaylar ile irdelenmektedir.The aim of this work is examining the Hippodrome of Constantinople?s changes from past to present and the history of the Hippodrome Constantinople by way of compiling. In this thesis, Istanbul in ancient times, the Hippodromes in ancient times, the game of the hippodrome, the hippodrome?s importance in ancient times, hippodromes importance in social life, emergence of the hippodrome?s and the horse racing, the architecture and Archaeology of the Hippodrome in Constantinople, the monuments of the Hippodrome in Constantinople, such as the Egyptian Obelisk, the Serpent Column, the Masonry Obelisk, the Sphendone that is called an architectural wonder has survived for centuries, excavations in the Hippodrome in Constantinople, Hippodrome-palace association are examined with the details.
