Matthiola montana Boiss. (Uludağ Şebboyu) türü Türkiye için endemik olup Malatya, Antalya, Isparta ve Bursa illerinde doğal olarak yetişmektedir. Bu türün tehlike düzeyi (IUCN) az tehdit altında (LR) kategorisine girmektedir. Bu çalışmanın materyalini oluşturan Matthiola montana türünün tohumları Uludağ’dan toplanarak laboratuvar ortamında çimlendirilmiştir. Matthiola montana’nın kromozom sayısı ilk defa belirlenmiştir. Türün diploid kromozom sayısı 2n12 olup, temel kromozom sayısı n6 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca kromozom morfolojisi de çalışılmıştır. Türün mitotik metafaz kromozomlarından elde edilen karyotip formülü 4m2sm şeklindedir. Kromozomların idiyogramı ve karyogramı Görüntü Analiz Sistemi (IAS) ile çizilmiştir. M. montana türünün karyotipik özellikleri M. odoratissima (Pall.) R.Br. ve M. trojana T.Dirmenci, F.Satıl & G.Tümen türlerinin karyotipleri ile karşılaştırılmıştır. İlave olarak bitkinin fotoğrafı ve yayılış haritası da verilmiştir.The genus Matthiola R.Br. is represented by about 50 species in the world and 10 species in Turkey. Matthiola montana Boiss. (Goldlack) growing naturally in Malatya, Antalya, Isparta and Bursa is endemic for Turkey. The species is assessed as lower risk (LR) category according to IUCN. The seeds of Matthiola montana used in this study were collected from Uludag and germinated in laboratory. The chromosome number of the species Matthiola montana is reported for the first time and the species have a diploid chromosome number of 2n12 and main chromosome number of n6. Chromosome morphology of the species was also studied. Karyotype formulae of the species obtained from mitotic metaphase chromosomes is 4m2sm. Idiograms and karyograms of the chromosomes were depicted by Image Analysis System (IAS). Karyotype characteristics of the species M. montana were compared with those of the species M. odoratissima (Pall.) R.Br. and M. trojana T.Dirmenci, F.Satıl & G.Tümen.
