Bu noktada, renklerin oluşturduğu ortak bilinç ve duygular, sosyal teorinin kapsamı içerisinde tartışılmaktadır. Renklerin kullanım alanlarının yanında sembolik ve imgesel değeri, özel olarak seçilen bir kısım örnekler üzerinden soruşturulmaktadır. Bu soruşturma, bilgi felsefesi ve bilgi sosyolojinin bazı varsayımları üzerine oturtulmaktadır. Öte yandan, tartışmanın ana ekseni, renklerin anlamındaki değişimler, kişisel ve toplumsal renk yargıları, yerel ve evrensel renk anlayışları, toplumsal katmanlar arasındaki rengin anlamsal farklılıklarıdır. Böylelikle post-yapısalcı bir bakış açısıyla renklerin üretmiş olduğu kendine has yapı ve dil analiz edilmektedir. Burada hem imge hem de bir sembol sosyolojisi yapma amacı güdülmektedir.This thesis examines the importance of colors in social life. The collective consciousness and emotions created by colors are discussed within the scope of social theory. At this point the areas of use for colors, as well as their symbolic and imaginary values are inquired through some specially selected examples. This inquiry is based on some assumptions of philosophy and sociology of knowledge. On the other hand, the main axis of discussion is related to changes in the meaning of colors, personal and social judgments about color, local and universal color perceptions, semantic differences of color between social stratas. Thus, the unique structure and language that are produced by colors have been analyzed within a post-structuralist perspective.
