The reaction of PTCGH2 with suitable arylamines in ethanol between -10-degrees-C and -15-degrees-C gives unsymmetrical vic-dioximes, namely, o-toluidino-2-tolYlglyoxime (C16H17N3O2), 1-naphthylamino-p-tolylglyoxime (C19H17N3O2), 1,1'-biphenyl-4-amino-4'-amino-p-tolylglYoxime (C21H20N4O2), N-(2-methylpyridyl)amino-p-tolylglyoxime (C15H16N4O2). The Cu(II) and Ni(II) complexes of these ligands are square-planar while the Co(II) complexes are octahedral with water molecules as axial ligands.
