Oyunları konu, kisiler, zaman, mekan, yapı ve kompozisyon, dil ve üslup bakımından degerlendirdik. Böylece oyun yazarlarımızın bu unsurları ne derece basarılı kullandıklarını tespit etmeye çalıstık. ingiliz tiyatrosundaki kısa oyunları da Türk tiyatrosu bölümünde benimsenen metot dogrultusunda ele aldık. Eserin sonuç bölümünde ise Türk ve İNgiliz tiyatrosundaki kısa oyunları karsılastırdık. Her iki ülkenin oyunlarını konu, kisiler, zaman, mekan, yapı ve kompozisyon, dil ve üslup açısından degerlendirdik. Türk ve ingiliz tiyatrosunun farklı kültürlerden gelmelerinden dolayı tiyatronun teknik unsurlarını kullanmada farklı yollar benimsediklerini söyleyebiliriz. Yaptıgımız degerlendirmede her iki ülkenin oyunlarında evrensel konuların islendigi anlasılmaktadır. Ancak Türk ve ingiliz toplumuna has özellikler farklı sekillerde oyunlara yansımıstır. İngiliz tiyatrosu, Türk tiyatrosunun öykündügü batılı tarzda oyun yazma teknigine baslangıcından beri hakimdir. Bu yüzden tiyatral unsurları daha yetkin kullanırlar. Türk tiyatrosunda ise teknik unsurların önemi ancak Cumhuriyet yıllarında anlasılmıstır. Artık günümüzde bütün unsurlar dikkate alınarak yazılmıs birçok eserle karsılasıyoruz.In this thesis, titled as ?One-Act Plays in Turkish and English Drama?, firstly Turkish one-act plays are studied by regarding the history of Turkish drama. The plays are analysed in the aspect of theme, character, time, place, structure and style. By this way the success of the playwrights at using these elements in their plays becomes clear. The same method is also used in English one-act plays. In the conclusion part of the thesis a comparative study between Turkish and English one-act plays is seen. One-act plays of the both countries are examined in the aspect of theatrical elements. It is seen that the playwrights of these countries follow different styles because of their diffferent historical background, culture, etc. But it is seen that universal themes are the common points of the playwrights, although reflection of the people?s life-style, culture to the plays are not similar. Also English playwrights are capable of using theatrical elements skillfully. Turkish playwrights try to find their way and style. We can say that the importance of these elements are understood after the Republican Drama period.
