International Medical Journal, 7(4), 287-288.1341-2051https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12395/17318Background: Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) is an uncommon, but serious complication of antipsychotic drug treatment that is characterized by muscular rigidity, hyperthermia, altered state of consciousness and autonomic dysfunction. Design: A case of NMS that is characterized by recurrence due to patient's negligence during haloperidol treatment is reported. Aim: To discuss the management of recurrent NMS and choices of post-NMS treatment in the light of the literature. Conclusion: The culprit drug should be changed immediately after the diagnosis of NMS. An atypical antipsychotic drug would be the choice of treatment of psychotic symptoms.eninfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessHaloperidolNeuroleptic malignant syndromeRecurrenceRecurrent Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome: A Case ReportArticle74287288N/A
