Heroic epic, Dede Korkut is regarded as one of the most important common values in Turkic world. As it will be observed during the study, the content of the study includes cultural elements and this makes its translation more difficult. In this analysis, our basic criteria are some parameters such as equivalence, adequateness, correctness and correspondence. In our evaluation, lexical, semantic, pragmatic and stylistic equivalence are taken into account. After having evaluated its German translation, it has been concluded that form-stressed text type has been paid attention. And moreover, its content has been transmitted to the readers of the target language with the usage of suitable equivalents as well as footnotes and explanations succesfully.
