Öğe Effect of gypsum on reclamation of boron soils in Konya-Çumra Dedemoğlu province(2006) Yılmaz, A. M.; Şahin, M.; Acar, B.; Erik, H.The effects of gypsum on reclamation of boron soils were investigated in Konya-Çumra Dedemo?lu province under field conditions during 2003 summer season. The gypsum with 85% purity obtained from Mediterranean Fertilizer Industry was used in research with three replications. The gypsum doses were applied as 0 t ha-1 (control), 10 and 30 t ha-1. Leaching water was taken from the artesian well that close to research plots. The irrigation water was applied as 30 cm increment which total of 180 cm. Initial and after every leaching, soil samples were taken from the 0-30, 30-60, 60-90 and 90-120 cm depths for analyzing. The results showed that after the leaching process, to be removed 30, 60 and 90% of B in soil profile, the applications of leaching water were determined as 0.37, 1.20 and 3.89 times of soil depths in control plots, respectively. In 10 t ha-1 gypsum applied plots, these were 0.41, 1.31 and 4.18 times of soil depths for removing 30, 60 and 90% of B, respectively. In examined the 30 t ha-1 gypsum applied plots, these were 0.39, 1.38 and 4.78 times of soil depths for removing 30, 60 and 90% of B, respectively. Equations and graphs that show the leaching water requirement of B in 1 m soil depth were obtained for each treatment. © 2006 Asian Network for Scientific Information.Öğe Key competences for lifelong learning: The case of prospective teachers(2010) Şahin, M.; Akbaşlı, Sait; Yelken, T. Y.This study aims to determine the level of prospective teachers in terms of lifelong learning key competences. Lifelong learning is an extensive educational approach receiving much attention not only by educational politics of European Union but also by the rest of the world. Lifelong learning competence requires an active and constant usage of knowledge. The items of "The Scale of Key Competences for Lifelong Learning" (SKCLLL) have been developed by the researchers based on the literature and the views of educational experts. Twenty-three items were defined in the scale. The scale has been applied to 415 prospective teachers attending to the final grade of the Faculty of Education of Selcuk University in Konya, Turkey. Based on the analysis carried out, it has been found that gender is not an effective factor in terms of the prospective teachers' lifelong learning key competences. No significant difference has been found in terms of the sub-branches. The field where prospective teachers feel that they are the least competent is communication in native language. © 2010 Academic Journals.Öğe Omental Fibroma: CT and US Findings(SPRINGER VERLAG, 1998) Paksoy, Y.; Şahin, M.; Açıkgözoğlu, Saim; Ödev, K.; Ömeroğlu, E.The US, CT, and X-ray findings in a patient with omental fibroma of the lesser omentum are described. Ultrasound showed a solid mass with cystic areas in the central region. At CT the lesion showed peripheral enhancement and central hypodensity. On X-ray studies with barium, there was border distortion in the lesser curvature of the stomach. The mass was resected surgically. A pathologic diagnosis of fibroma was confirmed.Öğe Percutaneous Drainage for Liver Hydatid Cysts - Rely(CANADIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, 2002) Şahin, M.; Aksoy, Fatih[Abstract not Available]Öğe The Results of Surgical Techniques in Hepatic Hydatidosis: Treatment with Drainage Versus Treatment Without Drainage - A 6-Year Experience(BLACKWELL SCIENCE LTD, 1998) Kama, N. A.; Şahin, M.; Göçmen, E.; Bayrak, M.; Kulaçoğlu, H.; Akat, A. Z.Fifty-nine consecutive patients who underwent surgery for hepatic hydatid cysts between 1 March 1988 and 31 July 1994, were included in this study. The aim was to compare the results of surgical techniques with respect to post-operative complications, morbidity and recurrence of the disease. Patients were divided into two groups. The first group, (1) of patients (n = 30)were treated surgically without drainage and the second group (2) of patients (n = 29) were treated surgically with tube drainage of the cystic cavity. In the study, there were 12 (20.33%) male and 47 (79.66%) female patients, with an age range of between 16 and 85 years. In five of the patients a communication between the cyst and the biliary system was documented. 11.8% of the cysts were localized extrahepatically. Post-operative morbidity was 10% in group 1 and 44.7% in group 2 (P < 0.05). Average post-operative hospital stay was 8.5 days in group 1 and 18.6 days in group 2 (P < 0.05). During the follow-up period, which lasted from 1 to 6 years, recurrence rates were not significantly different in the two groups (P < 0.05).
