In this study; the effects of cold deformation and heat treatment on the corrosion of 5083 Al-Mg alloy has been investigated. Tension test specimens were prepared from the cold rolled sheets by application of 48 %, 35 %, and 18 % deformation. Tension tests were applied the specimens both cold rolled and heat treated specimens annealed at 180°C, 270°C and 360°C. Specimens are exposed to the 3.5 % NaCl corrosive solution for the total duration of 1440 hrs. During this application which was conducted by alternate immersion method, specimens were taken away from the corrosive environment at the intervals of 240 hrs. The effect of corrosive environment on mechanical properties has been determined as the mechanical strength loss with respect to exposure time to the corrosive solution by tension test. They are concluded from the experiments that loss of strength increases as the annealing temperature and cold deformation rate and it is minimum for the specimens annealed at 270°C.
