Öğe Characterization of Air-Nitrogen-Argon DC Glow Discharge Plasma with THz Time Domain Spectroscopy(SPRINGER, 2011) Karaoğlan, G.; Tosun, Zahide; Akbar, Demiral; Altan, Hakan; Çınar, KamilTransmission of terahertz pulses through DC glow discharge plasma was investigated for different gases. The pressure was kept in between the range of 0.1 and 0.5 torr and for each pressure different measurements were taken at 5, 10 and 15 mA plasma currents. Moreover, emission spectrum of Air, N-2 and Ar plasma analysis were done respectively. It was found that the transmission of terahertz pulses through nitrogen plasma was considerably affected compared to that of the argon plasma.Öğe Characterization of Air-Nitrogen-Argon DC Glow Discharge Plasma with THz Time Domain Spectroscopy(2009) Çınar, Kamil; Karaoğlan, G.; Tosun, Zahide; Akbar, Demiral; Altan, HakanTransmission of terahertz pulses through DC glow discharge plasma was investigated for different gases. Experiments were performed at various discharge currents and moderate pressures. The analysis of the experimental results shows that the transmission of the terahertz pulses through the plasma is dependent on the polarization of the wave with respect to the electric field within the plasma. As a result the transmission decreases as the pressure decreases for p-polarization (perpendicular to the plasma DC electric field). However, for s-polarization the transmission spectrum was not affected.
