Öğe Adaptation of the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale into Turkish(TURKISH EDUCATION ASSOC, 2011) Ozyesil, Zumra; Arslan, Coskun; Kesici, Sahin; Deniz, M. EnginThe purpose of this study was to adapt Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) developed Brown & Ryan (2003) into Turkish on a group of university students. The original and Turkish versions of the scale were administered to English language teaching students and significant positive correlations between Turkish and English version scores were found. To determine the construct validity of MAAS, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were employed and analyses showed a strong single factor solution. The relation for all items of the scale was calculated above .40 as a result of item total correlations. The factor loading was between .48 and .81 for each item of the MAAS. The Cronbach's Alpha internal consistency of the scale was .80 and test-retest correlation was .86. There were significant positive relationships with respect to the correlation analysis employed for the Discriminated Validity of MAAS.Öğe Analysing the Trait Anxiety and Locus of Control of Undergraduates in Terms of Attachment Styles(EDAM, 2009) Dilmac, Buelent; Hamarta, Erdal; Arslan, CoskunThe aim of this research is to analyse the trait anxiety and locus of control of undergraduates in terms their attachment styles. This research has been conducted in accordance with general screening model. The target population of the research is constituted of 480 undergraduates. Pearson moments multiplication correlation coefficient technique, analysis of variance and Tukey test have been employed for analysing the data. As a result of the research, it has been found out that trait anxiety and the locus of control of negative self model and negative others model are positively correlated. Another symptom of the research is the finding that the trait anxiety point averages of the individuals of preoccupied and fearful attachment is higher than those of secure attachment style. Also, the point averages of trait anxiety of fearful attachment individuals have been determined to be expressively higher than the individuals who are dismissing attachment. It has been found out that the locus of control point averages of secure attachment undergraduates is expressively lower than those of preoccupied and fearful attachment undergraduates.Öğe ANGER, SELF-ESTEEM, AND PERCEIVED SOCIAL SUPPORT IN ADOLESCENCE(SOC PERSONALITY RES INC, 2009) Arslan, CoskunA survey model was used with 499 students between 16 and 18 years of age to investigate associations between perceived social support, self-esteem, trait anger, and anger expression revealed by the Perceived Social Support scale - Revised (Yildinm, 2004), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965; Turkish version Cuhadaroglu, 1986), and the Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale (Spielberger, Jacobs, Russell, & Craine, 1983) translated and adapted by Ozer (1994). Pearson product-moment correlation coefficients were determined. There was a significant negative relationship among anger expression and the social support and trait anger perceived from family and teachers, and between self-esteem and trait anger. However, there was no significant relationship between peer support and trait anger, anger-in, anger-out, and anger control; nor was there a significant relationship between self-esteem, anger-in, and anger-out. We also identified a significant positive relationship between self-esteem and anger control, and between self-esteem and the social support received from family and teachers.Öğe COPING WITH STRESS AND TRAIT ANXIETY IN TERMS OF LOCUS OF CONTROL: A STUDY WITH TURKISH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS(SOC PERSONALITY RES INC, 2009) Arslan, Coskun; Dilmac, Buelent; Hamarta, ErdalThe purpose of this study was to determine whether trait anxiety and coping with stress vary significantly according to locus of control. The study was carried out with 514 (286 female and 228 male) Turkish university students, aged between 18 and 27. It was found that average trait anxiety scores of the students with internal locus of control were significantly lower than those of the students with external locus of control and that average problem-focused coping with stress scores of the students with internal locus of control were significantly higher than those of the students with external locus of control. There was no significant difference in incidence of avoidance and seeking social support between the students with internal locus of control and those students with external locus of control.Öğe An Investigation of Interpersonal Problem Solving Approaches With Respect To Attachment Styles(EDAM, 2012) Arslan, Emel; Arslan, Coskun; Ari, RamazanThe purpose of this study was to investigate interpersonal problem solving approaches with respect to attachment styles. The participants were 5541279 female and 275 male) university students. Pearson product-moment correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis were used. The results of the study showed that the attachment styles of the students significantly predicted subdimentsions of interpersonal problem solving. There was a positive relationship between secure attachment style and constructive problem solving, insistent-persevering approach while there was a negative and significant relationship between secure attachment style. and approaching problems in a negative way, lack of self confidence, unwillingness to take responsibility. There was a positive relationship among dismissive attachment style scores constructive problem solving score. The relationship among preoccuped attachment style and approaching problems in a negative way, constructive problem solving, lack of self confidence, and unwillingness to take responsibility was positive and significant. There was a positive relationship among Fearful attachment style and approaching problems in a negative way, constructive problem solving, lack of self confidence, unwillingness to take responsibility, and insistent-persevering approach.Öğe Relation between mothers indifference negligent attitudes and social behaviors of six year olds(SILA SCIENCE, 2012) Arslan, Emel; Saltali, Neslihan Durmusoglu; Arslan, CoskunThis study was undertaken to examine the relation between mother's negligent attitudes towards their children and social behaviors of six year olds. The study group is composed of 321 children attending pre-school institutions and their mothers. In the study, Pre-school Social Behavior Scale-Teacher Form [1] which was administrated to the teachers of six year olds to collect data about their social behaviors, and negligence/indifference sub-dimension of Mother-Child Relationship-Mother Form [2] which was administrated to mothers to determine their indifferent/negligent attitudes towards their children. To analyze the data of the study, Pearson moment's multiplication linear correlation coefficient and simple linear regression analysis method were used. The results of the study revealed that mothers' negligent behaviors are positively related with children's physical aggressiveness, relational aggressiveness and depressive emotions, and that they are negatively related with children's positive social relation behaviors, and mothers' ignorant behaviors significantly predict children's social behaviors.
