Öğe Case presentation: Approach to acute rheumatic fever patient with hepatotoxicity due to acetylsalicylic acid [Bir olgu eşliğinde asetilsalisilik asite bağlı karaciğer toksisitesi gelişen akut romatizmal ateş hastasına yaklaşım](Galenos Yayincilik,, 2017) Güvenç O.; Çimen D.; Aslan E.; Emiroğlu H.; Arslan D.; Oran B.Treatment with acetylsalicylic acid is the first choice for arthritis and mild carditis of acute rheumatic fever which is a common disease in our country. There may be many adverse reactions during treatment. 10 year-old male patient diagnosed as acute rheumatic fever had hepatotoxicity due to acetylsalicylic acid therapy. This clinic manifestation has the possibility that can be seen always in pediatric cardiology practice. This case is presented due to limited literature on the treatment of patients with hepatotoxicity. © 2017, Galenos Yayincilik. The present research evaluated peroxide, refractive index, fatty acids composition, total carotenoids, chlorophyll content and colour values of einkorn grain and its oil. Total phenolic content and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity analyses were performed with whole wheat, defatted wheat and wheat oil. Whole wheat extract showed a higher total phenolic content and radical scavenging activity than defatted wheat and wheat oil extracts. The results showed that almost all of the phenolic compounds do not transfer during extraction from whole wheat to the wheat oil. Total oil yield of einkorn wheat was 1.58%. A major part of the composition of fatty acids in einkorn wheat oil was linoleic (49.43%), oleic (34.34%) and palmitic acid (10.27%). Total carotenoids in einkorn wheat oil was averaged as 12.33 mg/kg, total chlorophyll content was 0.73 mg/kg. © 2015 Wageningen Academic Publishers.Öğe Characterization of Turkish Olive Oils in Details(Taylor and Francis Inc., 2020) Arslan D.; Ok S.Olive oil is an important part of the human diet worldwide. Its production has increased every year. Adulteration detection and labeling olive oils with a declaration of geographical origin now is a new challenge for scientists. First, in this report, we summarize the contributions on quantitative analysis of fatty acids in Turkish olive oils. Then, we describe the reports of the minor constituents including phenols and aromatics of these olive oils, followed by less studied properties such as inorganic metal contents, bioactivity, and adulteration detection. While analyzing both the major and minor components of Turkish olive oils, we show also a comparison of their contents with other olive oils from Spain, Italy, Greece, and Tunisia. We conclude with lessons learned and aspects of scientific future work need to be done for the protection of the authenticity of olive oils. Antimuscarinic agents Oxybutynin) are the main drugs used to treat patients with overactive bladder (OAB) syndrome, defined as urgency, with or without urgency incontinence, usually with increased daytime frequency and nocturia. Increased QT dispersion is known to be the cause of ventricular arrhythmia in various systemic diseases and leads to increased mortality and morbidity. This study represents a subset of a complete data set, considering only those children aged admitted to the Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Nephrology Clinics during the period January 2011 to July 2012. In this study, we have determined that the QT interval changes significantly depending on the use of oxybutynin. The QT changes increased cardiac arrhythmia in children. For this reason, children using such drugs should be closely monitored for cardiac arrhythmia.Öğe Effects of degradation preventive agents on storage stability of anthocyanins in sour cherry concentrate(Eesti Pollumajandusulikool, 2015) Arslan D.In this study the effects of sugar (sucrose, 25%), gallic acid (700 mg kg-1) and ascorbic acid (700 mg kg-1) were used in sour cherry concentrate in order to prevent the degradation of main anthocyanin compounds (cyanidin-3-glucosylrutinoside (Cy-3GR), cyanidin-3-rutinoside (Cy-3R) and cyanidin-3-glucoside (Cy-3G)) which are natural bioactive pigments responsible for red, blue and purple color of many fruits and vegetables. Thermal degradation of anthocyanins was evaluated by determination of anthocyanin content and calculation of the reaction rate constant, half-life of degradation, activation energy. Anthocyanin content decreased at all of the storage temperatures, as an example; there were 75, 51 and 55% reductions in Cy-3G contents of control samples (with no preventive agent) stored at 45, 24 and 4°C, respectively. The values of half-life time were above 200 days in most cases at all storage temperatures for sugar treated samples. Cy-3-GR (activation energy values 35.6-84.4 kJ mol-1) was found to be the most unstable among the other anthocyanins. The most contributing agent on anthocyanin stability was sugar, whereas ascorbic acid exhibited the lowest effect in terms of preventing anthocyanin degradation. © 2015, Eesti Pollumajandusulikool. N-Acetylgalactosamine-4-sulfatase enzyme is lacking and disfunction at cell, tissue, and organ levels occurs due to dermatan sulfate accumulation. Besides the findings such as coarse facial appearance, hydrocephalus, dysostosis multiplex, corneal opacity, hepatosplenomegaly, and joint stiffness, cardiac involvement is also frequently observed. Valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, and arrhythmia may occur in patients. In this article, we presented and discussed a mucopolysaccharidosis type 6 patient having moderate mitral valve regurgitation together with dextrocardia as a case in the light of recent literature. © Copyright 2015 by Turkiye Klinikleri.Öğe Variations of phenolic compounds, fatty acids and some qualitative characteristics of Sariulak olive oil as induced by growing area(2013) Arslan D.; Karabekir Y.; Schreiner M.The extra virgin olive oils of "Sariulak" olive variety were produced from olives cultivated in three different locations (Antalya, Karaman, Mersin) in the south region of Turkey and were analyzed to select varieties and conditions that produce oil with favorable quality regarding oxidative stability, taste and nutritional properties. Peroxide value, free acidity, chlorophyll and carotene content, color values, and fatty acid compositions were measured and the contents of secoiridoid aglycones and lignans were determined with a qualitative and quantitative analysis performed by GC-MS to characterize the different subclasses. In particular the following sub-classes of phenols were identified and calibrated: simple phenols such as tyrosol and hydroxytyrosol (3,4-DHPEA and p-HPEA), their respective acetates (3,4-DHPEA-AC and p-HPEA-AC), secoiridoid derivatives such as the dialdehydic form of elenolic acid linked to 3,4-DHPEA or p-HPEA (3,4-DHPEA-EDA, p-HPEA-EDA, where EDA is elenolic acid dialdehyde) and isomers of oleuropein and ligstroside aglycones (3,4-DHPEA-EA and p-HPEA-EA, where EA is elenolic acid aldehyde), lignans such as (+)-1-acetoxypinoresinol, and (+)-1-pinoresinol and hydroxy-pinoresinol. Significant differences were observed in most of the parameters between the olive oils produced from different locations. © 2013 Elsevier Ltd.
