Öğe Assessment of foreigner students' attitudes towards the physical education and sport(SILA SCIENCE, 2012) Caglayan, Hakan Salim; Sirin, Erkan Faruk; Lok, Sefa; Ince, Alparslan; Oner, MutluThis study was conducted to determine the attitudes of foreigner students toward the physical education and sport. In the survey method this research universe has been constituted 448 students from 34 country who is educated in Mustafa Germirli Anadolu Imam Hatip High School opened in Kayseri in 2006-2007 education year. The sampling of this research has been constituted 241 students from 10 country selected randomly by means of sampling method aforesaid school in 2008-2009 education year. In this research "Physical Education and Sport Attitude Scale" (PESAS) developed by Demirhan and Altay (2001) had been used as data collection tool. Data have been investigated with Kolmogorov-Smimov Test whether they feature normal distribution or not and at the end of this investigation data feature normal distributionand one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) has been used to compare triad or more cluster. To determine varieties' source of one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) results which are found\ as significant, Turkey HSD multi comparison test has been used and significance level has been taken as 0.05. Generally students' attitudes relating to physical education and sport are found at positive level. Moreover it is found that there are statistically differences between variable of the students' attitudes relating to physical education and sport from countries where they came (P < 0.05). According to the students' age variable there is not found any differences between their attitudes relating to physical education and sport (P > 0.05).Öğe Effect of public relations activities conducted in professional football clubs on fan satisfaction(2017) Bayar, Celalettin; Caglayan, Hakan SalimThis study was conducted in an attempt to examine effect of public relations activities conducted in professional football clubs on fan satisfaction. In this study, survey model was employed to uncover current situation. The research sample was composed of a total of 699 fans (nmale535 and nfemale164) including 200 Fenerbahçe fans (nmale179 and nfemale21), 100 Beşiktaş Fans (nmale2 and nfemale98), 201 Galatasaray Fans (nmale178 and nfemale23) and 198 Gençlerbirliği Fans (nmale176 and nfemale22), who were selected with random sampling method from football teams played in Super Toto Super League at Turkey Football Federation 2011-2012 Football Season. “Fan Satisfaction Scale of Public Relations Activities” consisting of a total of 25 items and 5 sub-dimensions (recognition-identification, social responsibility, service activity, corporate governance and sportive activity) was developed in an effort to serve the purpose of the study. Research data were collected using developed relevant scale and “Personnel Information Form”. In analyzing the data, necessary statistical analyses were carried out in accordance with the rules needed to be followed in the development process. Mann-Whitney U Test and Kruskal-Wallis One-Way Analysis of Variance have been used, respectively, for pairwise comparisons and multiple comparisons since all sub-dimensions were not shown normal distribution after test of normality performing for sub-dimensions of the scale that had provided its validity and reliability. Mann-Whitney U Test was employed to determine this difference arising from which groups in the cases where statistically significant difference was found in consequence of Kruskal–Wallis one-way analysis of variance in multiple comparisons. ?0.05 was chosen for level of significance in the study. As a result of the study, it was determined that, on the one hand, team fans were “satisfied with” the dimensions “recognition-identification, service activity, corporate governance and sports activity" of Public Relations Activities performed by football clubs which they support, on the other hand, they were “neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with” the dimension “social responsibility”, namely, levels of their satisfaction were lower than those of other dimensions. It was determined that, on the one hand, the fans participated in the research differed significantly in the sub-dimension “sportive activity" of Fan Satisfaction Scale of Public Relations Activities according to the variable “gender”, on the other hand, they did not differ significantly in other sub-dimensions according to the variable “gender”. It was determined that the fans taken part in the research differed significantly in all the sub-dimensions of Fan Satisfaction Scale of Public Relations Activities according to the variables “age, educational level and marital status”. It was determined that, on the one hand, the fans involved in the research differed significantly in the sub-dimensions “social responsibility, service activity and corporate governance” of Fan Satisfaction Scale of Public Relations Activities according to the variable “level of income”, on the other hand, they did not differ significantly in other sub-dimensions according to the variable “level of income”Öğe Evaluation of the factors that affect performances of active football referees in Turkey(ACADEMIC JOURNALS, 2011) Karakus, Seydi; Caglayan, Hakan Salim; Pepe, HamdiThe research was carried out for the purpose of evaluating the factors affecting performances of active football referees who function in different categories. The survey method was used in the research in order to describe an existing situation. The research group is composed of 108 referees (FIFA = 4, senior referees = 37, senior assistant referees = 50, state referees = 17) who actively officiated in the 2008/2009 football season depending on the Turkish Football Federation. The scale consisting of a total of 50 items: 42 questions aiming to evaluate the factors affecting performances of referees and 8 questions on personal knowledge of them, was used as a data collection tool in the research. The cronbach-alpha reliability coefficient of the developing scale was calculated as 0.78. Frequency (n) among the described statistical methods was used for the countable data, while the arithmetic average ((X) over bar) and standard deviation (sd) were used for the data whose percent values were measurable. As a result of the research, important facts have been obtained: related authorities should approach referee incomes more scrupulously; Turkish Football Federation Central Board of Arbitration should perform a bright administration and consider the performance criteria of referees in assignments and promotions; contrary to the common beliefs of everyone (media, spectator and sports commentator), referees work quite professionally (that is, they are not affected by pressure of spectators and do not lose their control in a match); Turkish Football Federation Central Arbitration Organisation should evaluate the contents of the education programs, both in form and substance, in which referees participate in; referees that work dynamically, and compose the research group, are disturbed by comments of ex-referees who gave up their jobs and by media's publications; and club managers, especially big club managers, should be more careful with their statements in the media.Öğe The investigation of thinking styles of physical education teachers in Turkey(SILA SCIENCE, 2012) Caglayan, Hakan SalimThe present research was conducted in order to explore thinking styles of physical education teachers and to determine whether or not their thinking styles differed according to sex, age and teaching-rank (primary school-secondary school) variables. The survey method was used in the research. The sample of the research was made up of a total of 131 physical education teachers who worked at primary schools (n = 83) and secondary schools (n = 48) that belonged to National Education Ministry in Karatay, Meram and Selcuklu Counties of Konya Province during the 2009-2010 educational year. Thinking Styles Inventory -developed by Sternberg and Wagner and adapted into Turkish by Bulus - was used as the data collection tool. t test was used for the comparison of the paired sets and one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for three sets or more. Results were considered significant at p < 0.05. As a result of the research, it was determined that the most preferred thinking styles of physical education teacher was "legislative" (<(X)over bar> = 28.08) while the least preferred one was "conservative" ((X) over bar = 20.38). It was found out that "oligarchic" thinking styles of teachers differed significantly in terms of sex variable and their "conservative" thinking styles differed significantly in terms of teaching-rank (primary school-secondary school) variable (p < 0.05). As for other thinking styles, it was noted that they did not differ significantly in terms of sex and teaching-rank (p > 0.05). Another result was that thinking styles of teachers did not differ considerably in terms of age variable (p > 0.05), either.Öğe The relation between the self-esteem levels and decision- making styles of the students doing sports and the students not doing sports in high schools(2017) Gul, Ozgur; Caglayan, Hakan SalimThe objective of this study to determine the self-esteem levels and decision-making styles of the students studying at high schools according to their state of doing and not doing sports and to reveal whether there is a relation between their selfesteem levels and decision-making styles. The research group has been constituted by total 403 students, 114 of whom were doing sports and 289 not doing sports, studying at the high schools acting under Konya Provincial Education Directorate in the first half of the 2014-2015 school year. The group doing sports consisted of the students representing their schools and having taken part in competitions in different branches and the group not doing sports was constituted by the students studying in different departments of the same school and not active in a branch. In the study, as the data collection tool, “Coopersmith Self-esteem Inventory” developed by Coopersmith and adapted to Turkish by Turan & Tufan as well as “Decision-making Scale in Adolescents” developed by Mann et al. and adapted to Turkish by Çolakkadıoğlu were used. The fact that whether the data were distributed normally or not was scrutinized by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and following such scrutiny, as the data were distributed normally, Pearson moment correlation (r) coefficient technique was used to reveal the relation between the self-esteem levels and decision-making styles of students. ?0.05 was chosen as the significance level in the study. At the end of the study, it was determined that both the self-esteem levels and decision-making styles of the students doing sports were higher than those who do not do sports. It was ascertained in the students doing sports that there is a relation at moderate level and positive tendency between their self-esteem levels and self-respect in decision-making; at low level and negative tendency between their apathy and avoidance of responsibility decision-making styles, and at moderate level and negative tendency between their panic decision-making styles. In the students not doing sports, a relation at low level and positive tendency in their self-esteem levels and self-respect in decision-making and cautious-selectivity decision-making styles, and at low level and negative tendency between their panic and avoidance of responsibility decision-making styles, was determinedÖğe The study of sport managers decision making styles who are working in Center and Rural Organizations of General Directorate of Sport(2014) Vural, Mustafa; Caglayan, Hakan SalimThe present study is conducted in order to determine the effect of demographic variables on decision making styles of sport managers who are working in center and rural organizations of general directorate of sport. A descriptive survey model oriented method is used within the research in order to reveal the present situation. The study group is composed of 170 sport managers working in center and rural organizations of general directorate of sport (Provincial Director of Youth Services and Sport 32/ Departmental Manager 138). Melbourne Decision Making Questionaire which was developed by Mann et al. (1998) and then adapted by Deniz (2004) to Turkish is used as data collection tool along with Self-Information Form. While analyzing the data, Mann-Whitney U Test for paired comparison and Kruskal-Wallis Variance Analysis for multiple comparisons are used. In multiple comparisons when Kruskal Wallis Variance Analyses results were found meaningful, Mann Whitney U Test is applied to find out which groups were the sources of the meaningful differences. The significance level in the present study is α0.05. As a result of the study it is found that in terms of gender, age, educational level and managerial status self-esteem has no significant effect on decision making styles of sport managers; however, there was a significant difference regarding professional seniority and managerial seniority variables. It is also seen that there were no significant differences in all the sub-dimensions of decision making scale of sport managers considering the whole demographic variables.
