This study was carried out to determine oribatid mite fauna, their seasonal fluctuations and the species which acts as intermediate hosts of anoplocephalid cestodes in the province of Konya. Soil samples were taken monthly from Bozkir, Ilgin, Karaba?, Karapinar and Yarma between September 1993 and September 1995. They were extracted with a modified Berlese-Tullgreen apparatus. The oribatid mites collected from the soil samples were preserved in glycerol until examination. Specimens were cleared in lactic acid before microscopic observation. Approximately 70,000 oribatid mite specimens were studied and found to consist of 56 species belonging to 34 genera and 22 families. Of these species, the following were new records for Turkey: Epilohmannia inexpectata, Hypochthonius rufulus. Allodamaeus starki, Oppia chitinophincta, Oppiella nova, O. ornata, Zygoribatula tenuelamellata, Z. longiporosa, Scheloribates fimbriatus,S.latipes, Eupelops acromios, E. torulosus, Euphthiracarus cribrarius, Protoribates monodactylus, P.obtusus, Ceratozetes mediocris, C.gracilis, Tectocepheus sarekensis, Oribatella meridionalis, O.berlesei, Suctobelba trigona,Suctobelbella subcornigera, S.sarekensis, Galumna kazakhstani, G.elimata, Pergalumna myrmophila, P.nervosa, and Pilogalumna boevi. The highest number of oribatid species was found in Bozkir and Yarma (28 species). Twenty-seven oribatid species were found in Ilgin, 25 in Karaba? and 23 in Karapinar. Oribatid mites were detected in all soil samples taken during the study. The annual dynamism of oribatid population density generally has two distinct maxima, in spring and autumn, with a deep depression during the summer. Spring peak abundance was the highest in March in Bozkir and Yarma, while in Ilgin, Karabağ and Karapinar it was highest in April. The maximum oribatid population density for autumn occurred in October in Bozkir and Yarma, and in September in Ilgin, Karaba? and Karapinar. The number of oribatid mites recorded for the first time in Turkey was very high. The number of oribatid species acting as intermediate hosts to Anoplocephalid cestodes as also significant. The cysticercoids of Moniezia sp. were observed in Xylobates lophotrichus and Zygoribatula cognata in the locality of Ilgin, and in Scheloribates laevigatus in the locality of Yarma.

Sütten Kesi?lmi?ş Akkaraman Kuzularında Sodyum Lasalosi?d'i?n Besi?
This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of Na-lasalocid that was added into concentrate mixtures in 25, 50 and 75 g per ton on growth performance and against the possible coccidia infection of lambs. In the experiment, 40 Akkaraman male lambs with 3.5-4 months old were used. The research works were conducted as 4 groups for the period of 84 days. The ration of the control group did not contain any Na-lasalocid. The average of final weights of lambs in the groups were 47.41; 48.91; 49.98 and 49.96 kg respectively, (P>0.05). Average daily weight gain was found to be 260 g in the control group; 262, 281 and 280 g in the other groups, respectively, (P>0.05). The concentrates and wheat straw fed to the lambs ad libitum. Total feed consumption for all groups were 1646, 1648, 1650 and 1709 g respectively. The concentrate intake per kg weight gain were found to be 5.896, 5.744, 5.402 and 5.571 kg, respectively. According to these results, it would asserted that the groups feed with lasalocid improved the feed conversion rate more than the control group at the level of 2.58%, 8.38%, and 5.51%, respectively. The numbers of coccidia oocysts were found to be 6133, 5100, 6000 and 7833 in 1 g of feces sample at the beginning of the experiment. However, the counts of oocysts were sharply reduced after the treatment with Na-lasalocid at all levels. These values were found to be 4033, 38, 30 and 0, respectively, at the end of the experiment. Although 25 g g/ton Na-lasalocid did not improve the growth per- formance, the same level was highly effective in reducing the cocysts counts. On the other hand, spesifically 50 g/ton Na - lasalocid had both possitive effect on growth performance and reducing oocysts numbers. As a result, the use of this level would be strongly recommended in intensive lamb feeding.
