The ecology, biogeography, and conservation status of the new species are discussed. The leaf, fruit, and seed surface micromorphology of A. amasianum, A. hirsutum subsp. caespitosum, A. hirsutum subsp. hirsutum, A. strigosum subsp. strigosum, and A. xanthocarpum were also examined by scanning electron microscope.Öğe Association of sociodemographical features, antiviral treatment, and necroinflammatory activity with depression and anxiety in chronic hepatitis B patients(CUMHURIYET UNIV TIP FAK PSIKIYATRI ANABILIM DALI, 2015) Celik, Mustafa; Demir, Nazlim Aktug; Sumer, Sua; Demir, Lutfi SaltukObjective: Psychiatric disorders like depression and anxiety are known to be more prevalent in patients with chronic hepatitis B than healthy individuals. This increased prevalence may be due to multiple factors such as psychological distress associated with having a chronic disease, necroinflammatory activity in liver, side effects of treatment with antiviral agents or interferons, and/or direct effect of hepatitis viruses on central nervous system. Purpose of this study was to evaluate several risk factors that may be associated with anxiety and depression in patients with chronic hepatitis B. Methods: This study included 195 chronic hepatitis B patients. A psychiatrist made clinical interviews with the patients and filled Sociodemographic Data Form, Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS). Needle biopsies were performed to 175 patients who met biopsy criteria of American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. Knodell Histological Activity Index was used to evaluate biopsy materials. HBV DNA and ALT levels were measured from patients' sera. Findings: In the study sample, 119 patients were males and 76 were females. Mean HARS score was 7.3 +/- 6.2 and mean HDRS score was 8.8 +/- 6.6. Both HARS and HDRS scores were higher in females than males. HARS score was higher in patients with a family history of chronic hepatitis and both HARS and HDRS scores were higher in patients with comorbid medical illness. Alanine aminotransferase, HBV DNA levels, and level of fibrosis in liver biopsy didn't affect HARS or HDRS scores. Also, there wasn't a difference in HARS or HDRS scores according to patients' usage of pegylated interferon, or oral antiviral therapy. Conclusion: Multiple factors affect the relation between chronic hepatitis and psychiatric disorders like anxiety and depression. Results of our study suggest that female sex, presence of a family history for chronic hepatitis B, comorbidity of other medical diseases, and ethnic origin affect more than the level of necroinflammatory activity and cellular damage in the liver or antiviral treatments.Öğe Blood count values and ratios for predicting sleep apnea in obese children(ELSEVIER IRELAND LTD, 2017) Erdim, Ibrahim; Erdur, Omer; Oghan, Fatih; Mete, Fatih; Celik, MustafaObjectives: To detect whether the mean platelet volume (MPV), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) are contributing factors in the diagnosis and severity of sleep apnea in obese children. Introduction: Obesity is a public health problem, and its prevalence increases daily. Although PSG is the gold standard test in the investigation of sleep apnea, the application of this test requires equipment, personnel, time, and cost. There is no simple laboratory test for diagnosing and determining the severity of sleep apnea. Recently, MPV, NLR, and PLR, known as the inflammatory markers in CBC test parameters, have been investigated in some studies. We aim to investigate whether these parameters could provide a method for diagnosing and determining the severity of OSAS in obese children. Methods: Clinical records of 180 patients were evaluated. All subjects had venous blood samples collected from the antecubital vein in the morning, after an overnight fasting, one day before PSG. Hemoglobin, RDW, MPV, PLT, platelet distribution width (PDW), and WBC count were measured. After anthropometric and laboratory analysis, 127 obese children were assessed for sleep study. Eighty-three patients who met the required polysomnographic Criteria were divided into three groups as follows: group A [non-OSAS, apnea-plus-hypopnea index (AHI) < 1], groupB (1 <= AHI < 5), and groupC (AHI >= 5). Results: Total recording time, total sleep time, sleep efficiency, REM, and NREM sleep stage latency values were not statistically significant among groups. However, the number of awakenings, AHI, oxygen desaturation events, mean oxygen saturation, lowest oxygen saturation, average desaturation, and snoring time values had significant difference among the groups. There was no statistically significant difference among the groups in terms of WBC, Hemoglobin, platelets, PDW, neutrophil, and lymphocyte values. However, RDW values showed a statistically significant difference between groups A and C. Although there was no statistically significant difference of MPV values among groups, NLR and PLR values were statistically significant between groups A and C. Conclusion: According to our study, NLR, PLR, and RDW were found to be significantly higher in children whose AHI was >= 5 than in children from the other groups. However, no correlation was found between MPV levels and OSAS in children. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. We report a carbon monoxide intoxication case presenting with atrial fibrillation on 17 years old healthy boy. 17 years old boy admitted to emergency service after exposuring carbon monoxide gas approximately 3 hours. His first electrocardiography (ECG) showed atrial fibrillation with rapidly ventricular response. After oxygen supply sinus rhythm was achieved spontaneously. Emergency physicians should be aware of the clinical presentation of carbon monooxide intoxication. Every patient that arrived emergency service with acute or chronically carbon monoxide poisoning should undergo cardiovascular investigation, including ECG and measurement of cardiac enzymes.Öğe Comparative morphological, anatomical, micromorphological, and palynological studies on the genera Opopanax and Crenosciadium (Apiaceae)(MAGNOLIA PRESS, 2018) Cetin, Ozlem; Celik, MustafaIn the present study, morphological, micromorphological, palynological and anatomical characteristics of the genera Opopanax and Crenosciadium are reviewed and compared. The genus Opopanax is distributed in southern Europe, the Mediterranean region and Western Asia, and it is represented by three species in Turkey. Crenosciadium is a poorly known monotypic genus from Turkey, recently treated as synonym in Opopanax. Expanded descriptions, phenology, geographic distributions, and images of habitus of Opopanax and Crenosciadium are given. The differences between the two genera are discussed. The pollen morphology of Opopanax and Crenosciadium is studied by SEM and LM. The palynological results confirmed the stenopalynous characteristic of the family Apiaceae, and revealed that the pollen grains of both genera are perprolate in shape. Also fruit surface ornamentation of both genera is typically striate, and epidermal cells are polygonal or elongated in one direction. Cross-sections of mature fruits are examined and a detailed anatomical description is presented. Mericarp shape and width are very useful characters for discrimination between Opopanax and Crenosciadium; mericarp ribs are also very significant characteristics to discriminate both genera. Our findings, together with previous molecular data, clearly indicate that Crenosciadium differs considerably from Opopanax, and therefore it should be accepted at genus rank.Öğe EFFECTS OF VARIOUS CROP LOADS AND LEAF FERTILIZER ON GRAPEVINE YIELD AND QUALITY(TAYLOR & FRANCIS INC, 2012) Akin, Aydin; Dardeniz, Alper; Ates, Fadime; Celik, MustafaCrop loads and leaf fertilizers are highly important for yield and quality of grapevine. This research was conducted in the Konya province of Turkey in 2008 and 2009. The effects of crop loads and leaf fertilizers were investigated on yield and quality of Vitis vinifera L. cv. 'Gok uzum'. The combined leaf fertilizer (TARIS-ZF) significantly increased quality parameters such as berry length, berry weight, maturity index, juice yield and drying index of grapevine. Increasing crop load values (16, 21, and 26 buds/vine) increased fresh grape yield and juice yield; however, maturity index and drying index decreased in comparison to the control. According to these results, it was suggested that to produce a high yield 26 buds/vine pruning and non-fertilization could be utilized or to increase quality parameters 16 buds/vine pruning, and fertilization may be applied on grapevine cultivation.Öğe Long-term prognostic significance of terminal QRS distortion on patients with stemi and its correlation with the GRACE scoring system(CHURCHILL LIVINGSTONE INC MEDICAL PUBLISHERS, 2019) Yilmaz, Ahmet; Demir, Kenan; Karatas, Recep; Celik, Mustafa; Avci, Ahmet; Keles, Fikret; Ersecgin, Ahmet; Aygül, Nazif; Altunkeser, Bülent Behlül[Abstract not Available]Öğe A new species of Bunium (Apiaceae: Apioideae) from Central Anatolia in Turkey: Bunium sivasicum(MAGNOLIA PRESS, 2019) Celik, Mustafa; Bagci, YavuzA new species of Bunium from Central Anatolia (Turkey), Bunium sivasicum (Apiaceae), is described and illustrated. The taxonomic affinities of the new species are determined by detailed morphological investigation and molecular phylogenetic study. Nuclear rDNA-ITS region sequences are used to reveal the phylogenetic relationship of the new species. It belongs to the sect. Elegantia and is related to Bunium simplex, B elegans and B. verruculosum. The differences between the new species and its allies are discussed. Pollen characteristics and fruit surface features of the new species are investigated. The anatomical structure of the fruit is given in detail. In addition, the geographical distributions of the Bunium sivasicum and related taxa in Anatolia are also mapped.Öğe Study of phylogenetic relationship of Turkish species of Matthiola (Brassicaceae) based on ISSR amplification(TUBITAK SCIENTIFIC & TECHNICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL TURKEY, 2016) Dogan, Bekir; Celik, Mustafa; Unal, Murat; Sefali, Abdurrahman; Martin, Esra; Kaya, AylaMatthiola W.T. Aiton is a taxonomically complex genus in which there are many problems, mostly with Matthiola longipetala and M. odoratissima. Matthiola species native to Turkey were collected from various locations in Anatolia, and their DNA was isolated. Revision studies performed on the basis of molecular data obtained from studies conducted in recent years have made the phylogenetic relationships and systematic positions of the taxa more apparent and reliable. Consequently, the remaining taxonomic problems among the species have been resolved through the use of DNA-based molecular analysis methods, which, unlike phenotype studies, are not affected by environmental factors. The inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) fingerprinting method was used in the study because its properties were considered to be more reliable and consistent than those of the randomly amplified polymorphic DNA method. DNA fragments were amplified through the use of ISSR primers. The phylogenetic relationships among the taxa were represented on a dendrogram constructed through means of NTSYSpc 2.02 software. The infrageneric and intergeneric phylogenetic relationships between Matthiola and other related genera were also characterized. It was determined that the taxa Matthiola odoratissima and M. ovatifolia are separate but closely related. Moreover, it was observed that the Matthiola longipetala complex forms a separate group within the genera. Clearly, the genera Matthiola, Sterigmostemum, Strigosella, Malcolmia, and Chorispora are phylogenetically differentiated on the dendrogram.Öğe Successful Treatment of Suicide Attempt by Megadose of Propafenone and Captopril(HUMANA PRESS INC, 2013) Avci, Ahmet; Yilmaz, Ahmet; Celik, Mustafa; Demir, Kenan; Keles, FikretIntoxication caused by propafenone is very rare, and there is no case reported before propafenone and captopril intoxication together. There are few case reports in the literature about intoxication with more than 6 g of propafenone. We present the clinical manifestation and successfully treatment of 9 g of propafenone and 1 g captopril intoxication in an 18-year-old female. An 18-year-old female was brought to the emergency department approximately half an hour after she committed suicide with 30 propafenone tablets, 300 mg each, and 20 captopril tablets, 50 mg each. Her fist electrocardiography (ECG) shows a chaotic ventricular rhythm with a prolonged QRS complex. After fluid and sodium bicarbonate infusion and permanent pacemaker implantation, sinus rhythm was achieved. This case, to our knowledge, is the first in that it describes the successful recovery of a patient who ingested extensively large doses of propafenone (9 g) and captopril (1 g), both of which are known to have severe cardiac side effects.
