Öğe Morphological, anatomical, palynological, and micromorphological characters of 2 endemic species of Ornithogalum (O. chetikianum and O. demirizianum) in Turkey(TUBITAK SCIENTIFIC & TECHNICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL TURKEY, 2015) Citak, Burcu Yilmaz; Dural, Huseyin; Buyukkartal, Hatice Nurhan; Pinar, Nur MunevverIn this investigation, the comparative morphological, anatomical, palynological, and micromorphological characters of Ornithogalum chetikianum Uysal, Ertugrul & Dural and O. demirizianum Malyer & Koyuncu, which belong to Ornithogalum subgenus Myogalum (=Honorius) (Asparagaceae), are presented. In accordance with the new observations, dimensions of some morphological characters are revised as distinct from the previous description of the species. Anatomical investigations of roots, scapes, and leaves were found to be useful for taxonomy. Some anatomical characters, such as the number of protoxylem arms in the root, the number of cortex and sclerenchyma layers in the scape, and type of mesophyll cells in the leaf, provide information of taxonomical significance. Pollen grains of O. chetikianum are monosulcate, but the pollen grains of O. demirizianum are both monosulcate and zonosulcate (10%). As a result of this study, some pollen characteristics such as aperture type, pollen shape, and exine ornamentation were demonstrated to be different between the species. Capsules and seeds of the species are different from one another, especially in their shapes. The investigated species are compared with the other studied species in the subgenus Myogalum.Öğe Morphology and anatomy of Hedysarum pannosum (Boiss.) Boiss. (Fabaceae)(UNIV ZAGREB, FAC SCIENCE, DIV BIOLOGY, 2015) Dural, Huseyin; Citak, Burcu YilmazThe aim of this paper is to investigate morphological, anatomical, palynological, fruit and seed micromorphological properties of Hedysarum pannosum (Boiss.) Boiss. A detailed description of the species is reported for the first time in this study. The morphological features of the species have been compared with the results of previous investigations. Anatomical studies have been carried out on cross-sections of roots, stems, leaflets and petioles. The anatomical results show that the plants have secondary growth roots, protruding stems, amphistomatic and equifacial leaves with tannin, triangular shaped petioles. Hedysarum pannosum pollen are tricolpate, prolate and pollen exine ornamentation is reticulate. Fruits have trichomes on their setae and tomentose trichomes have papillae. Seeds are reniform and they have rugolo-reticulate ornamentation.Öğe A palynological survey of the genus Iberis (Brassicaceae), known as candytufts, in Turkey(MAGNOLIA PRESS, 2019) Citak, Burcu YilmazThe present study reports for the first time detailed palynological traits of the Turkish species Iberis. Both light microscope (LM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used for the characterisation of the species. Radially symmetrical, isopolar, and tricolpate pollen grains were observed as common characters in all of the examined taxa. The pollen grains were prolate-spheroidal with polar axes ranging from 21.97 to 29.25 mu m and equatorial axes ranging from 20.34 to 26.09 mu m. Their polar shapes were subcircular to subtriangular. Two types of exine ornamentation were observed using a SEM. A numerical UPGMA analysis showed that the dimensions of polar axes, equatorial axes and outline in polar view (amb) were the most valuable variables for separating the Iberis species.
