Öğe Effect of peanut oil and nandrolone on serum cytokines in pubertal term rats(AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH COMMUNICATION CENTRE, 2018) Tasgin, Erdal; Haliloglu, SeyfullahThe purpose of this study was to determine the effect of nandrolone on cytokine levels in pubertal term female and male rats. Totally 60 pubertal term Spraque Dawley rat (30/30 female/male) were divided into 3 equal groups. Control group received no treatment. PO group received intraperitoneally peanut oil every 5 days with an intervening gap of 2 days where no treatment was given. ND group received intraperitoneally nandrolone decanoate (10 mg/kg) within peanut oil like PO group. At the end of the four weeks, blood samples were obtained. Serum cytokine levels were measured by ELISA. Peanut oil significantly (P<0.05) increased serum levels of interleukin-1 beta and interleukin-6 in pubertal term male rats, while nandrolone decanoate had no any effect on the cytokine levels compared to experimental groups. It may be stated that nandrolone decanoate has no excessive inducer effect on the cytokine synthesis in pubertal male and female term.Öğe Effects of single dose administered nandrolone decanoate on serum cytokine levels and some biochemical parameters in male and female rats.(SCIENTIFIC PUBLISHERS INDIA, 2017) Tasgin, Erdal; Lok, Sefa; Haliloglu, Seyfullah; Demir, Nagehan; Ergin, HaleThe aim this this study was to determine that administration of single higher dose nandrolone decanoate (40 mg/kg) on serum IL-1 beta, TNF-alpha, IL-10 and IL-6 levels and some biochemical parameters during 24 h in male and female rats. The blood samples were taken from 5 male and female rats to obtain their starting values. Then the blood samples were taken from 6 rats in sampling time at 1st, 2nd, 4th, 8th, 12th and 24th h following the nandrolone decanoate administration. There were significant increases determined in the serum IL-1 beta levels, numerical increases in the TNF-alpha levels whereas decreased IL-6 levels were determined. IL-10 levels did not change during experimental period. While serum GGT and BUN levels increased towards the last h of the study, increased ALP levels were observed only female rats. There was no any significance changes were determined in the other biochemical (ALT, AST, CK-MB and LDH) values. As a result, increased IL-1 beta and TNF-alpha levels, proinflammatory cytokines, and some biochemical parameters may be reflect that long term used nandrolone decanoate causes organ damages and effect immune system function. However, effects of long term used nandrolone decanoate on the immune system and organ functions should be detailed evaluated.Öğe Peri-implant crevicular fluid levels of cathepsin-K, RANKL, and OPG around standard, short, and mini dental implants after prosthodontic loading(KOREAN ACAD PERIODONTOLOGY, 2015) Alan, Raif; Marakoglu, Ismail; Haliloglu, SeyfullahPurpose: Despite the high success rates of endosseous dental implants, their placement is restricted according to the height and volume of bone available. The use of short or mini dental implants could be one way to overcome this limitation. Thus, this study aimed to compare standard, short, and mini dental implants with regard to associated clinical parameters and pen-implant crevicular fluid (PICF) levels of cathepsin-K (CTSK), RANK ligand (RANKL), and osteoprotegerin (UPS), after prosthodontic loading. Methods: A total of 78 non-submerged implants (Euroteknika, Aesthetica(+2), Sallanches, France) were installed in 30 subjects (13 male, 17 female; range, 26-62 years) who visited the clinic of the Periodontology Department Faculty of Dentistry, Selcuk University. Sampling and measurements were performed on the loading date (baseline) and 2, 14, and 90 days after loading. Assessment of the pen-implant status for the implant sites was performed using the pocket probing depth (PPD), modified plaque index, modified gingival index, modified sulcular bleeding index, and radiographic signs of bone loss. PICF samples collected from each implant were evaluated for CTSK, RANKL, and UPS levels using the ELISA method. Keratinized tissue and marginal bone loss (MBL) were also noted. Results: Clinical parameters statistically significantly increased in each group but did not show statistical differences between groups without PPD. Although implant groups showed a higher MBL in the upper jaw, only the standard dental group demonstrated a statistically significant difference. At 90 days, the OPG:sRANKL ratio and total amounts of CTSK for each group did not differ from baseline. Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, both short and mini dental implants were achieving the same outcomes as the standard dental implants in the early period after loading.Öğe Proinflammatory cytokines in temporomandibular joint synovial fluid before and after arthrocentesis(MOSBY-ELSEVIER, 2009) Gulen, Huseyin; Ataoglu, Hanife; Haliloglu, Seyfullah; Isik, KubilayObjective. The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of interleukin (IL)-1 beta, IL-6, IL-8, IL-11, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) synovial fluid of the patients with internal derangement before and 2 weeks after arthrocentesis. Study design. Forty TMJs of 35 patients (29 females and 6 males, mean age 22.9 years) were included to the study. TMJs were divided into 2 groups: disc displacement with reduction (Group 1, n = 24) and disc displacement without reduction (Group 2, n = 16). Synovial fluid samples were obtained before and 2 weeks after arthrocentesis. IL-1 beta, IL-6, IL-8, IL-11, and TNF-alpha concentrations were measured by using specific kits. Results. Two weeks after the arthrocentesis procedures, all cytokines were found to be significantly decreased (P < .05) both in Group 1 and Group 2. The difference between 2 groups was insignificant (P > .05). Conclusion. Arthrocentesis is an effective technique for eliminating the studied cytokines from the TMJ synovial fluid.
