Öğe Alpha-novel Determination Method of Cu(II) Ions on the Immobilized Humic Acid by SPE-FIA Hyphenated Technique(Elsevier Science Bv, 2010) Durmaz, Fatih; Kara, HüseyinThe aim of this study was to optimize the integrated SPE-FIA (Solid phase extraction-flow-injection analysis) hyphenated technique for determination of trace level of Cu(II) ions where flow-injection sample processing was used. Firstly, Humic acid (HA) was immobilized onto aminopropyl silica (APS). Then, the material was filled into the column using slurry packing procedure. The prepared column was assembled to HPLC using two valves system for SPE-FIA analysis and used for the removal of Cu(II) ions from aqueous solution. The analysis of Cu (II) ions was realized by both SPE and FIA techniques on modified HPLC system as online. In SPE system, Cu(II) ions were preconcentrated on micro column loaded with immobilized humic acid (ImHA). EDTA (pH = 8) solution was used for the elution of Cu(II) ions sorbed by ImHA. The sorption characteristics of Cu(II)-immobilized humic acid system were investigated at different Cu(II) concentrations, and output was observed by a UV detector. The developed method was applied for online metal ion determination in samples, especially Cu (II) and obtained results compared with atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) results. Sorption characteristics were evaluated by using Freundlich, Langmuir, and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) adsorption isotherms, as well as by Scatchard plot analysis.Öğe Analysis of Polychlorinated Dibenzofurans (PCDFs) in Fly-Ash From a Waste Incineration Plant(PRESTON PUBLICATIONS INC, 1994) Pehlivan, Mustafa; Pehlivan, Erol; Kara, HüseyinIn this study, a method for the congener-specific analysis of polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) in fly ash from a waste incineration plant is described. This method involves extraction, column chromatography, and gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric techniques. Representative fly ash samples are obtained from the waste incinerator. Analyses indicate that PCDFs are consistently found in the municipal incinerator.Öğe Changes in Coal Composition During Air Oxidation at Moderate Temperature(TAYLOR & FRANCIS INC, 1989) Yılmaz, Mustafa; Ceylan, Ramazan; Kara, HüseyinIn this work, under atmospheric pressure and moderate temperature for various periods, e.g., 30, 45, 90, and 135 days, the air oxidation of two Central Anatolian lignites were examined. The structural changes of the lignite samples were observed by analyzing the amount of phenolic hydroxyl, carboxyl, andperoxide of the samples oxidized and by comparing the IR spectra of the lignites, both original and oxidized. It was concluded that most of the phenolic structures of the lignites were oxidized into quinonoid structures during the oxidation process.Öğe Effect of Temperature on Separation of Purine and Pyrimidine Bases on Novel Chelating Resin(Elsevier Science Bv, 2002) Ayar, Ahmet; Mercimek, Bedrettin; Kara, Hüseyin; Çengeloğlu, YunusThe novel chelating resin poly-bis [4-(4'-biphenyl)oxamidine]-diaminoglyoxime (PLH2) has been modified as ligand-exchange material with Co(II). The possibility of using PLH2 as ligand exchanger in the chromatographic separation of nucleic acid bases and nucleosides has been studied at various temperatures. PLH2 offers the advantage of combining high sorption capacity with high selectivity for the ligands. It has a strong driving force for ligand sorption. Ligand-exchange chromatography on Co(II)-loaded functionalized PLH2 can be a useful alternative method for separation of nucleic acid bases and nucleosides.Öğe Fatty acid and dietary fibre content of walnut (Juglans regia L.) varieties grown in Turkey(2006) Akça, Yaşar; Kara, Hüseyin; Yazıcıgil, Zafer; Öztekin, Y.; Özgen, Mustafa; Sütyemez, Mehmet; Kalyoncu, LeylaWalnuts (Juglans regia L.), as part of healthy diet, contain multiple beneficial components such as unique fatty acid profile and high levels of Vitamin E, fibre and polyphenols. In this work, fatty acid profile and dietary fibre content of new walnut varieties grown in Turkey have been reported. For this purpose walnut samples were collected from 18 different varieties and genotypes grown in Turkey. Four international commercial varieties ('Heartley', Pedro', 'Chandler' and 'Serr'), three Turkish commercial varieties ('Kaman', 'Sebin', 'Bilecik') and 11 new promising new genotypes were evaluated in terms of their fatty acid profile and total dietary fibre contents. Fatty acid composition was determined by gas chromatography and total dietary fibre determination was done by enzymatic-gravimetric procedure. Potential health benefits of newly selected Turkish walnut varieties showed promising results since 6 out of 14 newly selected varieties had more than 70% PUFA and all the new selections except one had more than 10% dietary fibre content.Öğe Fen lisesi Kimya öğretmenlerinden bir yansıtma: güncellenen Kimya öğretim programı ile ilgili görüşler(2016) Akaygün, Sevil; Elmas, Rıdvan; Kara, Hüseyin; Karataş, Faik Özgür; Yıldırım, GözdeÖğretim programlarının uygulanmasında öğretmenlerin programa ilişkingörüş ve inanışları etkilidir. The glycine permeability increases with a decreasing pH in the receiver phase. The largest permeability was obtained if the initial pH oil the source side was pH 5.9 and that oil the opposite side was pH 2.0. The transport phenomena can be explained by the interfacial transport based on the interfacial chemical reaction (protonation, deprotonation or ion-exchange) between both phases in terms of the initial pH of the solution.Öğe Impact of Frying on Key Fatty Acid Ratios of Canola Oil(Wıley, 2012) Talpur, Muhammad Younis; Sherazi, Syed Tufail Hussain; Mahesar, Sarfaraz Ahmed; Naz, Saba; Kara, HüseyinThe study was carried out to investigate the changes in saturated (SFA), monoene (MUFA), trans (TFA), and polyunsaturated (PUFA) fatty acids and the key fatty acid ratios (SFA/UFA, cis PUFA/SFA, C18:2/C16:0 and C18:3/C16:0) during potato chips frying in canola oil using single bounce attenuated total reflectance FTIR (SB-ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy. The data obtained from GC-FID were used as reference. The calibration of main fat groups and their key fatty acid ratios were developed by partial least square (PLS) regression coefficients using 4000 to 650?cm-1 spectral range. FTIR PLS regression for the predicted SFA, MUFA, TFA, and PUFA were found 0.999, 0.998, 0.998, and 0.999, respectively, whereas for SFA/UFA, cis PUFA/SFA, C18:2/C16:0 and C18:3/C16:0 the regression coefficients were 0.991, 0.997, 0.996, and 0.994, respectively. We conclude that FTIR-PLS could be used for rapid and accurate assessment of changes in the main fat groups and their key fatty acid ratios ratio during the frying process.Öğe Konya bölgesinde kullanılan yemlerde organik klorlu pestisit kalıntılarının araştırılması(2007) Torlak, Emrah; Aktümsek, Abdurrahman; Güler, Gökalp Özmen; Kara, Hüseyin; Ünsal, SadettinBu çalışmada, Konya bölgesinden sağlanan 100 adet yem örneğinde Avrupa Birliği direktiflerine göre, yemlerde istenmeyen maddelerden olan organik klorlu pestisit kalıntılannın varlığı GC-ECD ile araştırılmıştır. In Beysehir Lake (Central Anatolia)(SELPER LTD, PUBLICATIONS DIV, 2002) Aktümsek, Abdurrahman; Kara, Hüseyin; Nizamlıoğlu, F.; Dinç, I.Fishes in Beysehir Lake were analysed to determine organochlorine residues. The more frequently detected compounds are DDT complex (DDT, DDD, DDE and isomers), total HCH complex (alpha-HCH, beta-HCH and gamma-HCH or lindane), aldrin, dieldrin, endrin and heptad-dorine. Eighty five percent of the fish samples were found to be contaminated. While 75 % of the total samples contaminated by one or more HCH isomers, 63 % of the organochlorinated pesticide is DDT and its metabolite, dieldrin and endrin are minor pesticides in samples. Heptachlorine was found in only one sample. Despite their presence high concentrations are sporadic, the mean values being less than FAO/WHO maximum recommended limits.Öğe Monitoring of some organochlorine pesticide residues of butter in Konya, Turkey(TRIVENI ENTERPRISES, 2005) Nizamlıoğlu, Ferhan; Aktümsek, Abdurrahman; Kara, Hüseyin; Dinç, İffetSome organochlorine pesticide residues were investigated in the samples of all local commercial butter brands sold in the supermarket in Konya (Turkey). Some of the samples were found to have the DDT complex (DDT, DDD, DDE and isomers), total HCH complex (alpha-HCH, beta-HCH, gamma-HCH), aldrin, dieldrin and endosulfan (I and II). Nearly 94% of the butter samples were found to be contaminated, Endrin and heptachlorine were detected in three and two samples, respectively, while 87% of samples were contaminated by one or more HCH isomers. 78% of the organochlorine pesticide was DDT and/or its metabolites. These results confirmed that butters sold in Konya presented organochlorine pesticide residues indicating a human exposure.Öğe Removal of Sulfur From 4 Central Anatolian Lignites by Naoh(BUTTERWORTH-HEINEMANN LTD, 1988) Kara, Hüseyin; Ceylan, RamazanThe desulphurization of four samples of Central Anatolian lignites by treatment with aqueous NaOH was examined. NaOH concentration and temperature were the significant parameters but the extraction time had only a slight effect. Organic sulphur was not removed from three of the samples but in the other lignite 12.5 wt % of the organic sulphur was removed by treatment at 70°C for 8 h with 20 wt/v % NaOH solution. Total sulphur contents were considerably reduced by aqueous NaOH treatment but one high-sulphur lignite was found to be more resistant to sulphur removal than the others. This lignite was treated with molten caustic at 300°C and 450°C with the result that the total sulphur and ash contents were reduced by 47- 83 wt % and 77-91 wt % respectively.Öğe Some organochlorine pesticide residues in commercial milk Konya-region/Turkey(PARLAR SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS (P S P), 1999) Kara, Hüseyin; Aktümsek, Abdurrahman; Nizamlıoğlu, FerhanSome organochlorinated pesticides were investigated in Turkish cow's milk (n = 24). Almost all samples contained such residues. The frequently detected compounds were DDT and its metabolites, alpha-BHC, beta-BHC and gamma-BHC (Lindane), but aldrine, dieldrine, and endosulfane were also found. 91% of the milk samples were found to be contaminated. Endrine was only found in 2 samples, while 87% of the samples were contaminated by one or more BHC isomers. 26% of the organochlorinated pesticides is DDT and its metabolites.Öğe The Sorption Behavior of A Nickel-Insolubilized Humic Acid System in A Column Arrangement(ACADEMIC PRESS INC ELSEVIER SCIENCE, 2005) Gezici, Orhan; Kara, Hüseyin; Ersöz, Mustafa; Abalı, YükselThe sorption characteristics of insolttbilized humic acid (IHA) were investigated for Ni (II) in a column arrangement. The sodium form of the IHA (INaA) was used as a solid phase. Column operations were performed with five steps and all of them were monitored continuously by a flowthrough cell-adapted UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Thus, all solid-phase extraction (SPE) steps were visualized by breakthrough curves and analyses progress were evaluated. However, all calculations and evaluations were focused on the atomic absorption spectrophotometric (AAS) analyses of the solutions collected during the stripping steps. There was a high correlation (r(2), 0.972) between peak area and AAS data of stripping steps. The effect of concentration and pH of the loading solution onto sorption of Ni (II) by INaA was investigated. Sorption characteristics were evaluated by using Freundlich, Langmuir, and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) adsorption isotherms, as well as by Scatchard plot analysis. Multilayer sorption was found to be agreeable for Ni (II). From the D-R isotherm the mean free energy of sorption (E) was calculated (6.65 kJ mol(-1)) and attributed to the multilayer sorption. Finally, the sorption characteristic of the INaA-Ni (II) system was compared with that of the INaA-Cu (II) system, and possible separation of two ions in a binary mixture system is discussed.
