Öğe Asymmetric Star-Shaped Functionalized Triazine Architecture and Its Electrochromic Device Application(ELECTROCHEMICAL SOC INC, 2017) Karatas, Erhan; Guzel, Merve; Ak, MetinA new asymmetric functionalized star shaped triazine derivative, namely 2,2'-((6-(quinolin-8-yloxy)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diyl)bis(oxy))bis(9H carbazole) (TQC) was synthesized from 2-hydroxy carbazole and 8-hydroxyquinoline. The electrically conductive PTQC film was synthesized via electropolymerization on ITO in a 0.1 M lithium perchlorate/acetonitrile (LiClO4/ACN) electrolyte-solvent couple. H-1-NMR, FTIR and elemental analysis were used to analyze the structure of the TQC. Both electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical studies of the polymer were examined. PTQC revealed color changes between transparent and dark green in the reduced and oxidized states, respectively. Dual type polymer electrochromic devices (ECDs) based on PTQC and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) have been constructed. A potential range of 0 to 2.5 V was found to be proper for working the PTQC/PEDOT device between transparent and blue colors. The spectroelectrochemistry, electrochromic switching, open circuit memory and stability of the device were studied. The properties of the electrochromic device have been investigated such as spectroelectrochemistry, electrochromic switching, stability and open circuit memory. (C) 2017 The Electrochemical Society. This new heterogeneous catalyst was characterized by XRD, Si-29 NMR-, N-2 adsorption-desorption isotherms and ICP-OES techniques. The new heterogeneous catalyst, In(O (i) Pr)(3)-MCM-41, was tested for the capable of catalyzed Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley (MPV) reduction of unsaturated aldehydes and ketones with low catalyst loadings under mild conditions and showed good to excellent catalytic activities. Also, effect of supporting surfaces, both of SBA-15 and MCM-41, on catalytic activity of In(O (i) Pr)(3) were examined. In(O (i) Pr)(3)-SBA-15 heterogeneous catalyst in comparison with the In(O (i) Pr)(3)-MCM-41 catalyst, display comparatively higher catalytic activity in the MPV reduction of unsaturated aldehydes and ketones. Also, similiar reaction times and selectivities for the unsaturated alcohols were obtained with the In(O (i) Pr)(3)-SBA-15 catalyst compared with the In(O (i) Pr)(3)-MCM-41 catalyst. The reason for the lower activity observed for MCM-41 sample may be due to smaller pore size of the In(O (i) Pr)(3)-MCM-41 catalyst as compared with In(O (i) Pr)(3)-SBA-15 catalyst can creat restrict site accessibility for the carbonyl compounds. Eventually, effect of supporting surfaces, SBA-15 and MCM-41, on catalytic activity of In(O (i) Pr)(3) insignificant for MPV reduction of unsaturated carbonyl compounds.Öğe The Synthesis and characterization of five-coordinate Schiff base complexes of gallium(Selçuk Üniversitesi, 2015) Karatas, Erhan; Bayram, Mamure; Ucan, Halil IsmetThis work is an exploration into the synthesis and characterization of five-coordination of gallium complexes of ligands. (E)-2-(2-hydroxybenzylideneamino)phenol (1), (E)-2-((phenylim,no)methyl)phenol (2), 2-2'-(1E,1E')-(1,4-phenylenebis(azan-1-yl-ylidene))bis(methan-1-yl-1-ylidene)diphenol (3), 8-hydroxyquinoline (4). Fully characterized examples include those of general formula LGL', where L:1, L'2,3 or 4. Ligands and complexes were characterized by means of elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy,1H NMR, thermal analyses, and magnetic susceptibility measurements.Öğe The Synthesis and Characterization of s-Triazine-Cored and [Fe(III)Salen]-Capped Polymer Complexes(SPRINGER, 2011) Karatas, Erhan; Ucan, Halil Ismet2,4,6-Trichloro-1,3,5-triazine (cyanuric chloride, C(3)N(3)Cl(3), 1) was used as the starting material. 2-(4-Carboxyphenylamino)-4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine (2) was obtained from the reaction of cyanuric chloride with 4-aminobenzoic acid in the presence of sodium bicarbonate in acetone. A mononuclear complex (4) was obtained by reacting 2 and [FeSalen](2)O (3). A series of polymeric compounds was obtained by reacting 4 with a series of diamines. The polymeric complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, AAS, FT-IR, (1)H NMR, TGA and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The complexes are low-spin, distorted octahedral Fe(III) species that are bridged by carboxylic acids. The [FeSalen]-containing compounds may have the electronic structure t (2g) (5) e (g) (0) . All the complexes have six coordination and are polymeric.Öğe The Synthesis and Characterization of s-Triazine-Cored Tripodal Structure and Its Salen/Salophen-Bridged Fe/Cr(III) Capped Complexes(WILEY, 2017) Karatas, Erhan; Ucan, Halil IsmetA novel Schiff base compound was synthesized, and its complexation properties with Fe(III) and Cr(III) were investigated. Tripodal ligand was synthesized by the reaction of s-triazine and 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde. Then a Schiff base involving 8-hydroxyquinoline was synthesized by the reaction of 5-aminomethyl-8hydroxyquinoline (QN) and 2,4,6-tris(p-formylphenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine (TRIPOD) in methanol/chloroform media. The obtained Schiff base (QN-TRIPOD) was then reacted with four trinuclear Fe(III) and Cr(III) complexes including tetradentate Schiff bases N, N'-bis(salicylidene) ethylenediamine (salenH(2))/bis (salicylidene)-o-phenylenediamine (SalophenH(2)). The synthesized ligand and complexes were characterized by means of elemental analysis carrying out H-1 NMR, FTIR spectroscopy, thermal analyses, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Finally, metal ratios of the prepared complexes were determined by using atomic adsorption spectrometry.Öğe Synthesis and Fluorescence Properties of Carbazole Based Asymmetric Functionalized Star Shaped Polymer(ELECTROCHEMICAL SOC INC, 2017) Guzel, Merve; Karatas, Erhan; Ak, MetinA fluorescent group containing novel asymmetric functionalized star shaped derivative (TPC) of 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine containing 2-hydroxy carbazole and 1-pyrenemethylamine was designed, synthesized and characterized. Polymerization of TPC was achieved in acetonitrile/lithium perchlorate (ACN/LiClO4) solvent/electrolyte couple via electrochemical techniques. Electrochromic properties of the PTPC were investigated via spectroelectrochemistry, kinetic and colorimetry studies. Optoelectrochemical investigation of PTPC displayed electronic transitions at 308, 460 and 780 nm which are correspond to pi-pi* transition, polaron, and bipolaron band formations, respectively. Moreover, electrochromic and fluorescence properties of PTPC were investigated. For the first time, this study reports the huge potential of asymmetric functionalized triazine compounds as electrochromic material. (C) 2016 The Electrochemical Society. All rights reserved.
