Öğe Bond strength of two total-etching bonding systems on caries-affected and sound primary teeth dentin(WILEY, 2008) Tosun, Gul; Koyuturk, Alp Erdin; Sener, Yagmur; Sengun, AbdulkadirAim. As bond strength of currently available adhesive systems in caries-affected teeth dentin on primary tooth dentin was not well known, the bond strength of two bonding systems (PQI and OptiBond Solo Plus) was evaluated on caries-affected and sound primary molar tooth dentin and observed the micromorphology of the adhesive-dentin interfaces. Methods. By grinding both the sound (n = 30) and caries-affected (n = 30) approximal surfaces of teeth, flat dentin surfaces were obtained. The prepared surfaces were bonded with one of the each adhesive systems and a composite resin. After storing the bonded specimens in water at 37 degrees C for 24 h, the samples were sectioned and the bond strength of the adhesive systems was tested by the microshear test method. The data were statistically analysed. Results. Microshear bond strengths of PQI group for caries-affected and sound primary tooth dentin were 9.43 +/- 2.44 (MPa) and 9.32 +/- 2.95 (MPa) (P > 0.05), respectively, and the bond strengths of OptiBond Solo Plus group for caries-affected and sound primary tooth dentin were 15.33 +/- 3.59 (MPa) and 11.96 +/- 2.30 (MPa) (P < 0.05), respectively. Micromorphological features between sound and caries-affected dentin were similar in both PQI and OptiBond Solo Plus groups. Conclusion. Both the adhesives showed significantly different bond strengths in caries-affected dentin but showed similar bond strengths in sound dentin.Öğe Effect of new innovative restorative carbomised glass cement on intrapulpal temperature rise: an ex-vivo study(SOCIEDADE BRASILEIRA DE PESQUISA ODONTOLOGICA, 2016) Botsali, Murat Selim; Tokay, Ugur; Ozmen, Bilal; Cortcu, Murat; Koyuturk, Alp Erdin; Kahvecioglu, FirdevsThis study aimed to evaluate the temperature changes that occurred in the pulp chamber when using GCP Glass Carbomer Fill (GCP) and two different resin-modified glass-ionomer (RGI) restorative materials at different dentin thicknesses. A standardized Class I occlusal cavity with 1 mm or 2 mm dentin thickness was prepared in the extracted human molar teeth. RGI and GCP fills were placed in the cavities and cured with two different light-curing units. This study included a total of 120 samples, with 20 samples in each group. The pulp microcirculation method was used for measuring the intrapulpal temperature changes. Statistical analysis was performed using the two-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD multiple comparison tests. Statistically significant differences were observed between 1 mm and 2 mm dentin thicknesses (p < 0.001). The GCP groups (both 1 mm and 2 mm dentin thicknesses) exhibited higher temperatures than the other groups (p < 0.001), and Fuji II LC and Photac Fil Quick Aplicap showed similar values (p > 0.05). The highest temperature changes were observed with 1 mm dentin thickness. While RGI materials in both dentin thicknesses did not cause temperature changes that were harmful to the pulp, GCP CarboLED LCU caused the highest intrapulpal temperature rise, and these values were borderline harmful to the dental pulp.Öğe Effects of Er:YAG Laser on Bond Strength of Self-etching Adhesives to Caries-Affected Dentin(WILEY-BLACKWELL, 2014) Koyuturk, Alp Erdin; Ozmen, Bilal; Cortcu, Murat; Tokay, Ugur; Tosun, Gul; Sari, Mustafa ErhanThe erbium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Er:YAG) laser may be effective the bond strength of adhesive systems on dentine surfaces, the chemical composition and aggressiveness of adhesive systems in clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of the Er:YAG laser system with the bonding ability of two different self-etching adhesives to caries-affected dentine in primary molars. Ninety mid-coronal flat dentine surfaces obtained from sound and caries-affected human primary dentine were treated with an Er:YAG laser or a bur. The prepared surfaces were restored with an adhesive system (Xeno V; Clearfil S-3) and a compomer (Dyract Extra). The restored teeth were sectioned with a low-speed saw and 162 samples were obtained. The bond strength of the adhesive systems was tested using the micro-tensile test method. The data were statistically analyzed. A restored tooth in each group was processed for scanning electron microscopy evaluation. The values of the highest bond strength were obtained from the Clearfil S-3-Er:YAG laser-sound dentine group in all groups. (24.57 +/- 7.27 MPa) (P>0.05). The values of the lowest bond strength were obtained from the Xeno V-Er:YAG laser-sound dentine group in all groups (11.01 +/- 3.89 MPa). It was determined that the Clearfil S-3 increased the bond strength on the surface applied with Er:YAG laser according to the Xeno V. Microsc. Res. Tech. 77:282-288, 2014. Traumatic injuries on permanent teeth are common, and dramatic episodes can occur during childhood. Cases of dental avulsions and reimplantations, dentoalveolar fractures, several forms (lateral, extrusive and intrusive) of luxations, concussion, subluxation, gingival lacerations and hard, pulpal dental tissue lesions have been extensively reported. This case report presents the therapy for severe trauma caused by multiple traumatic injuries to the dentoalveolar complex of a patient.Öğe Orthodontic Extrusion of Subgingivally Fractured Incisor Before Restoration. A Case Report: 3-years Follow-up(2005) Koyuturk, Alp Erdin; Malkoc, SıddıkOrthodontic forced eruption may be a suitable approach without risking the esthetic appearance in tooth fracture below the gingival attachment or alveolar bone crest. Extrusion of such teeth allows elevating the fracture line above the epithelial attachment and so the proper finishing margins can be prepared. Restoration after orthodontic eruption may present a more conservative treatment choice in young patients compared with the prosthetic restoration after extraction. This case describes a multidisciplinary approach using the orthodontic forced eruption facilitating the composite restoration of a fractured upper permanent central incisor.
