    China's belt and road initiative: Implications for Turkey

    In recent years, as China's economic growth and international status have increased significantly, the development of bilateral relations with China has become an important diplomatic direction for many countries. In 2013, The Belt and Road initiative started with the motto of the president of China, Xi Jinping in Kazakhstan, and its became one of the most important foreign policy tool of Beijing in recent years. As the project was expected to be a connection between Europe and Asia, it was a strategy that has multiple advantages in Chinese foreign politics. The Belt And Road initiative proposed by China covers all aspects of economy, politics, transportation, culture, etc., and its also encompasses many countries . Through the Belt and Road Initiative, China wants to improve infrastructure development in countries along the route, especially in Central Asia, which is an important gateway to Europe by land, and expand its own commodity markets by accelerating regional economic integration and enhancing economic engagement with the region as well as Europe. And Turkey has been an important pivot point of the ancient Silk Road since ancient times, Therefore, in the Belt and Road Initiative, considering Turkey's special geographical position, its important influence in Central Asia and its importance to Europe, the relationship between China and Turkey appears to be of vital importance. In this study,China-Turkey relations have been evaluated through the Belt And Road initiative. The main purpose of the study is to review "The Belt and Road" initiative, and its effects on the region countries since the time it was announced. On the basis of the study; answers have been searched for why China needs such initiative and how to implement this policy, what is the importance of this initiative for Turkey, and what are the challenges and opportunities within the scope of The Belt and Road initiative between two nations.
