(Asteraceae) in Turkey(UNIV FLORENCE BOTANY INST, 2009) Bekir, Dogan; Duran, Ahmet; Martin, Esra; Hakki, Erdogan EsrefChromosome numbers of 13 Jurinea species, collected from different localities in Turkey, were determined for the first time. All the Jurinea species investigated were diploid with chromosome numbers counted as 2n = 34. The basic chromosome number of the genus was x = 17. In this study, polyploidy was determined in nine taxa of Jurinea. Polyploid cells were 2n = 4x = 68 and they were tetraploid. The mitotic metaphase plates were given all the taxa of Jurinea. The research has made contribution to the cytotaxonomic revision of the genus Jurinea in Turkey.Öğe Contribution to the cytotaxonomic knowledge of 10 species of Klasea Cass. (Asteraceae) from Turkey(UNIV FLORENCE BOTANY INST, 2015) Martin, Esra; Dogan, Bekir; Duran, Ahmet; Coskun, Fatih; Altinordu, FahimIn the present study, karyotype analyses of 10 taxa belongs to the genus Klasea Cass. (Asteraceae) were conducted. Somatic chromosome numbers are not a distinctive character of classification of Klasea taxa. All of the taxa were counted as 2n = 30 chromosomes, except for Klasea radiata subsp. biebersteiniana (2n = 60). Although all the taxa have a chromosome number of 2n = 30, they could be differentiated by their karyotype formula and quantitative parameters of the karyotype. Karyotype analysis was performed by means of an Image Analysis System and karyotype asymmetry indices were measured. According to these parameters, karyological relationships among studied taxa were inferred.Öğe Cytogenetical Analysis of 12 Taxa of Genista L. Chromosome numbers of all the taxa, except G. tinctoria, are introduced to the scientific community for the first time. Somatic metaphase chromosomes of the genus were determined as 2n = 18, 36, 46, 48, 52, 72 and 144. Polyploidy was observed in the cells of G. albida (2n = 18, 2n = 4x = 36), G. tinctoria (2n = 36, 48, 2n = 4x = 96), G. januensis subsp. lydia (2n = 46, 2n = 4x = 92), G. burdurensis and G. sessilifolia (2n = 48, 2n = 4x = 96). This study presents macro- and micromorphological characters, including fruit and seed shape, size, colour, fruiting pedicel size, fruit hair and density, seed coat pattern, epidermal cell shape, and anticlinal and periclinal cell walls. The results showed that the morphological characteristics of the fruit and seed could be used as criteria to distinguish genera and tribes. The investigated features of specimens indicated that Malcolmia chia (L.) DC. and M.flexuosa (Sikh. & Sm.) Sibth. & Sm. should remain in the genus that belongs to the tribe Anastaticeae. Malcolmia crenulata (DC.) Boiss. and M. exacoides (DC.) Spreng. belong to the genus Zuvanda (Dvorak) Askerova of the tribe Conringieae. Finally, Malcolmia africana (L.) W.T.Aiton and M. intermedia C.A.Mey. belong to the genus Strigosella Boiss. of the tribe Euclidieae. A key is provided for the identification of the investigated species based on fruit and seed characters.Öğe Karyological studies in some Glycyrrhiza (Fabaceae) taxa from Turkey(TAYLOR & FRANCIS LTD, 2015) Cetina, Ozlem; Duran, Ahmet; Martin, Esra; Kucukoduk, MustafaChromosome number, size and morphology of five taxa of the genus Glycyrrhiza growing naturally in Turkey were investigated.
