Öğe Analysing Mothers' Self-efficacy Perception towards Parenting in Relation to Peer Relationships of 5-6 year-old Preschool Children(EDAM, 2012) Secer, Zarife; Ogelman, Hulya Gulay; Onder, Alev; Berengi, SemraThe purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of self - efficacy perception of mothers' towards parenting on the peer relations of children aged between 5 and 6. The sample group of this study comprised of 200, 5 - 6 year old children (girls=96, boys=104), and their mothers. The Ladd and Profilet Child Behaviour Scale, the Peer Victimisation Scale and the Parenting Sense of Competence Scale - Mother Form were used to collect data of this study. Study results concluded that there was a negative significant relationship between the level of self-efficacy perceived by mothers towards parenting and variables of aggression, exclusion, fearful-anxiety, hyperactivity, and peer victimisation of their children. Another conclusion obtained from this study was that the level of self-efficacy perceived by mothers towards parenting had a predictor effect on their child's level of aggression, exclusion, fearful-anxiety, hyperactivity, and peer victimisation. There was no significant relationship between the level of self-efficacy perceived by mothers towards parenting and their child's level of prosocial and asocial behaviour.Öğe A comparison of peer relations and social skills of children aged between 5 and 6 with and without divorced parents(SILA SCIENCE, 2012) Gulay, Hulya; Secer, Zarife; Onder, Alev; Pirtik, SenayThe purpose of this study is to compare the social skill levels and peer relations of 5-6 year olds with divorced parents to 5-6 year olds whose parents are together. 70 children aged between 5 and 6 participated in the study. 35 of the children's parents were divorced. The remaining 35 children's parents were together. A personal information form, the Child Behaviour Scale, and the Social Skills Assessment Scale were used to gather data. The data collecting instruments were completed by preschool teachers. According to study results, the divorce variable, in general, has an effect on the social skills and peer relations of children aged between 5 and 6. While children with divorced parents had a lower level of prosocial behaviour and social skill in comparison to their peers, whose parents are together, their level of asocial behaviour, exclusion, and fear-anxiety was higher in comparison to their peers, whose parents are together. There was no difference in the level of hyperactivity directed at peers among both groups.
