Öğe An analysis of the relationship between identity patterns of turkish deaf adolescents and the communication modes used in special residential schools for the hearing impaired and deaf(2005) Sari H.This study examined the relationship between identity patterns and the communication modes of deaf adolescents aged between 14 and 18 years in Turkey. They were currently being educated in state residential secondary schools for the deaf. Deaf adolescents were administered the 'Deaf Identity Scale' presented in Turkish using total communication modes. The instrument measuring identity choice was administered to 90 students at three residential state schools for the deaf. Based on the questionnaire responses, students were classified into three groups: those with a predominant Culturally Hearing Identity, those with a primary Culturally Deaf Identity, and those who identified with both groups - a Bicultural (Dual) Identity. Analyses focused on the relationship between the students' identities and the communication methods which they reported using. The data indicated that the dual identity was consistently associated with better communication and the use of combined modes. Literature reports that the children who attended nursery schools have tendencies to be more successful, active and social than the others who did not attend that kind of schools in the long term. Therefore, the aim of this research is to elucidate whether there is any difference between the children's knowledges about moral and social rules, who attend nursery schools or do not. The sample of this research consisted of 120 children, 60 children attended and 60 did not attend nursery schools. The data were collected using 10 pictures developed by Smetana (1981). The data collected in this research from the participants who are between the ages of 4 and 6 years were analysed with the help of Mann-Whithney-U statistics technigue and the "t" test. The result of this study is that preschool education should be compulsory for each child because it helps develop their knowledges about moral and social rules, which support their other developmental areas.Öğe The influence of an in-service teacher training (INSET) programme on attitudes towards inclusion by regular classroom teachers who teach deaf students in primary schools in Turkey(2007) Sari H.The aim of the present study is to examine the impact of an INSET programme on regular classroom teachers' attitudes towards deaf students educated in regular primary schools. In this research project, a quantitative research approach is used involving randomised allocation of subjects to groups, and a pre-test - post-test design. The sample for each group consisted of a random allocation of 61 teachers to an experimental group and 61 teachers to a control group. The research instruments were: 1) a programme of INSET courses based on the Deaf Friendly Teaching: Practical Guidance for Teachers Working with Deaf Children (National Deaf Children's Society, 2004), and 2) 'The Opinions Relative to Mainstreaming' survey, which was developed by Antonak and Larrivee (1995), and was translated and adapted by Kircaali-Iftar (1997) in Turkey. The results indicated that the teachers in the experimental group increased their knowledge about deafness and that their attitudes were significantly more positive. In particular, the teachers' attitudes changed in relation to classroom management and knowledge about the education of deaf students in inclusive settings. Providing to sustainable usage of resources is possible by conservation of local originated seeds, which act on principle of agriculture and inputs besides cause to an increase in ratio of 25-40% in production. The data were obtained from the family farms making production with 68 local seeds using the "Unclassified single-step simple random probability sampling based on ratios" method in 20 villages. The obtained table were created and the chi-square analysis was performed on the percentage ratios and the bilateral relations. As a result of the research, 49 local seed varieties were identified. Consequently, it is necessary to encouragement of young people for agricultural activities, a better data transfer among the stakeholders and project production for conservation of local originated seeds. © 2019, Centenary University.
