    Strategic management process at furniture firms (a sample of Mersin province)

    Strategic management is a sum of processes that aims to maintain firm’s life at long-term, to get sustainable competitive advantage and to gain profit over sector average. Generally, there is an apparent expansion of management’s planning, organizing, leading and controlling functions in this process. The firms that use strategic management process efficiently and effectively will continue their operations easier in present-day business world that becomes more global and competitive each passing day. In this study, it is searched that how and in which level firms of furniture industry practice strategic management process. A survey is applied to 30 furniture firms that operate in Mersin province with face-to-face method. By using descriptive statistics, variance and correlation analyses at SPSS environment, inferences are made from the data obtained from firms. As a result, it is found that firms agree with 14 factors, used for researching strategic management process of firms, in proportion as 97,4%. This result shows that furniture firms have strategic management conscious.

    Supplier choice on furniture industry

    One of the important factors of furniture industry, which can compete at national and international markets, can provide intended quality and amount raw material. For this reason, it has had importance that evaluation and selection methods of raw material suppliers. The supply-chain management system has aimed that it controls material supply, production and distribution stages in supply-chain from raw material to production and then end user. In this study, according to subject of production and number of workers it has researched criterions for supplier choice in enterprises by face to face survey method at 295 furniture industry enterprises in 24 Organized Industrial Zones. It has been found that the criterions of delivery on time (90%), quality of raw material (88%) and sufficiency at engineering design (76,9%) are important for the supplier choice.

    Suriyeli mültecilerin mobilya sektörü işgücü üzerine etkileri; Kahramanmaraş ili örneği

    Doğal felaketler, savaşlar, küreselleşme ve göç olayları ülkelerin demografik yapılarının, sosyal hayatının, üretilen mal ve hizmetlerin niteliğinin, fiyatının ve ayrıca işgücü özelliklerinin değişmesine neden olmaktadır. Göç sebebi ile değişen işgücü yapısı rekabet ortamında işletmelere bazı avantajlar sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, 2011 yılında Suriye’de başlayan iç savaş sonrası Türkiye’ye gelen ve mobilya sektöründe çalışmaya başlayan mültecilerin etkileri yüz yüze görüşme anket metodu ile incelenmiştir. İşyeri sahiplerinin görüşleri ve memnuniyet dereceleri, Türk işçilerin bu konudaki görüşleri, mültecilerin sorunları ve geleceğe yönelik olası gelişmeler karşısındaki kararları tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.
