Öğe BORIDE LAYER GROWTH KINETICS OF AISI H13 STEEL BORIDED WITH NANO-SIZED POWDERS(POLSKA AKAD NAUK, POLISH ACAD SCIENCES, INST METALL & MATER SCI PAS, 2018) Karakas, M. S.; Gunen, A.; Kanca, E.; Yilmaz, E.Growth kinetics of boride layers in AISI H13 steel was investigated using the pack bonding method at temperatures of 1073, 1173 and 1273 K (800 degrees C, 900 degrees C and 1000 degrees C) for periods of 2, 4 and 6 h with nano-sized boron (NB) and micron-sized Ekabor II powders as bonding agents. The total thickness of the boride layer (including both FeB and Fe2B) after boriding at 1273 K (1000 degrees C) for 6 h was 103.8 gm and 96.5 mu m for the NB and Ekabor II specimens, respectively. X-ray diffraction analysis of the boride layers on the surfaces borided with NB and Ekabor II revealed the presence of FeB and Fe2B phases with sawtooth morphology. The FeB/Fe2B volume ratio was higher in the specimens borided with NB. The thickness of the boride layer (FeB + Fe2B) increased with the increasing boriding temperature and time. The FeB layer in the NB specimen displayed a (002) preferred orientation.Öğe Effects of two different local anaesthetic methods vs no anaesthesia on pain scores for intratympanic injections(CAMBRIDGE UNIV PRESS, 2016) Ata, N.; Erdur, O.; Gorgulu, M. H.; Yilmaz, E.Objective: This study compared the pain associated with the intratympanic injection combined with various local anaesthetics vs without anaesthesia. Methods: The study included 40 patients (aged 18-78 years) who received intratympanic steroid injections for sudden idiopathic hearing loss or tinnitus. Each patient underwent all three injection methods at one-week intervals. Patients received one of two local anaesthetics (lidocaine injection or lidocaine spray) or no anaesthesia before intratympanic injection, and used a visual analogue scale to indicate the pain level after 5 and 45 minutes. Results: Five minutes after injection, patients who did not receive anaesthesia and those who received lidocaine spray reported lower pain scores than those who received a lidocaine injection (p < 0.05). There was no difference in pain scores for all three methods at 45 minutes after intratympanic injection. Conclusion: Neither of the local anaesthetics was found to be superior to having no anaesthesia.Öğe High-performance conducting polybenzimidazoles nanohybrids(WILEY, 2018) Ozaytekin, I.; Dinc, H.; Oflaz, K.; Kaya, T.; Cakmaktepe, S.; Yilmaz, E.The use of ionic liquids (IL) and nanoparticles in polymeric membranes is known to increase the electrochemical performance for heavy metal ions must be eliminated from water resources. In this study at first, NiFe2O4 and Fe3O4 nanoparticles were obtained using cationic surfactants cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) at 120 degrees C in autoclave. Hybrid structure of this nanoparticles obtained by the method known as the hydrothermal was prepared with polybenzimidazole (Poly[2,2(1)-(p-phenylene)-5,5(1)-bis(benzimidazole)]: PBI1 and (Poly[2,2(1)-(p,p(1)-diphenylene)-5,5(1)-bis(benzimidazole)]: PBI2) in IL (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide [BMIM]BF4: IL) environment. For the acquisition of hybrid nanoparticles with polybenzimidazole, polycondensation reaction of hydroxamoyl chloride (Terephtalohydroxamoyl chloride and 4,4(1)-Bis(phenylhydroxamoyl chloride) and 3,3(1)-diaminobenzidine monomers in IL environment was performed without acid media. The increase in proton conduction in comparison to the PBI membranes were observed due to the presence of ILs in PBI-ILs blend membranes. These nanohybrids were characterized by the FT-IR, XRD, TEM, EDX, at different temperature, vibrating sample magnetometer, and SEM analyses. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction, and the hybrid microspheres were found uniformly dispersed in the polymer matrices without any agglomeration. The influence of [BMIM]BF4 as IL on the structure, electrical conductivity and magnetic properties of PBI-NiFe2O4-IL nanocomposite were studied in detail. TGA analyses were performed for thermal resistance of nanoparticles and PBI hybrid structure. T-initial, T-max, and T-last decomposition temperatures were determined, initial decomposition temperature was obtained in the range of 420-600 degrees C for hybrid structures. POLYM. Objective To determine the levels of depression, anxiety and QoL in CIU patients. Patients and methods This study included 73 patients with CIU, and 34 healthy subjects matched for age and sex were used as controls. The levels of depression, anxiety and QoL were assessed with the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment-Brief (WHOQOL-BREF), respectively. The reliability and validity of the Turkish versions of these instruments have been examined. Results When compared with healthy controls, patients with CIU had significantly higher BDI and BAI scores and significantly lower physical health and psychological health subscale scores of the WHOQOL-BREF. BDI, BAI and all domains of WHOQOL-BREF were unrelated to age, duration of illness, urticaria activity score (UAS) and visual analogue score (VAS). There was a negative significant correlation between all domains of WHOQOL-BREF and BDI and BAI. Conclusion Our data confirm that QoL is markedly reduced in CIU patients. Physical health and psychological health were found to be the areas QoL most affected in CIU patients. And also we have found that CIU patients frequently suffer from depression and anxiety. The severity of these parameters was found to be positively correlated with the extent of QoL decrease.Öğe Psychometric Properties of the Turkish Version of Sleep Hygiene Index in Clinical and Non-clinical Samples(ELSEVIER FRANCE-EDITIONS SCIENTIFIQUES MEDICALES ELSEVIER, 2015) Ozdemir, P.
