To base such a lubricant and hydraulic fluids on a vegetable oil creates a product environmentally friendly and nontoxic. They have a high viscosity index and flammable point. This study describes vegetable oil-based use possibilities as hydraulic fluids on farm tractors. Mineral and soybean oils were tested as hydraulic fluid as per OECD Standard Code II (for the Official Testing of Agricultural and Forestry Tractor Performance) or OECD-II tests standards in New Holland brand tractors, which are manufactured locally in Turkey considering the environmental concerns. Density, viscosity, acidity, iodine number, saponification, unsaponification matter, cold test, flash point, melting point, pour point, and water content of the soybean oil were determined before and after the testing according to the standards. Both types of oil produced similar performances indicating that soybean oil can substitute mineral oil in hydraulic systems of farm tractors. Soybean oil as used in hydraulic fluids was determinate between mineral oil and soybean oil. Standard deviation was 1.57 and correlation was 0.76. Maximum lift power was 14.25 Nm at 685 mm lifting height in soybean oil, whereas 14.49 Nm value was obtained by mineral oil in the same height. According to the results, soybean oil can be used as an alternative hydraulic fluid.Öğe DETERMINATION OF THE EFFECTS OF SAFFLOWER BIODIESEL AND ITS BLENDS WITH DIESEL FUEL ON ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND EMISSIONS IN A SINGLE CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE(AMER SOC MECHANICAL ENGINEERS, 2011) Özçelik, Abdullah Engin; Öğüt, HüseyinWhile energy efficiency is an important issue, the development and encouragement of technologies that will use renewable energy sources and extending the use of such technologies constitutes another important step in national energy studies (1). Countries that do not have oil reserves have started to search for alternative energy sources because of such negative conditions. The demand for petrol based fuels has increased instead of decreasing due to environmental factors as the result of the increase in industrialization and the number of motor vehicles. The use of fuels obtained from vegetable products in internal combustion engines as renewable energy is not a new issue, in fact, studies have been conducted on a global scale for a long time. In the present study, biodiesel was produced from safflower oil through transesterification. The fuels obtained were used for preparing 2% biodiesel-98% diesel (B2), 20% biodiesel-80% diesel (B20) and 100% biodiesel fuel mixtures. Afterwards, these fuel mixtures and 100% Eurodiesel fuel were used in a four-cycle, single-cylinder diesel engine with and the changes in the exhaust performance emissions were examined. The results obtained in the experiments were presented comparatively.Öğe Dizel Motorlarında Egzoz Gazları Resirkülasyonunun (EGR) Motor Performansı ve Egzoz Emisyonlarına Etkisinin Deneysel Analizi(2002) Haşimoğlu, Can; İçingür, Yakup; Öğüt, Hüseyinİçten yanmalı motorlarda yanma odasındaki sıcaklık 1800 K'nin üzerine çıktığında, havanım içerisindeki azot ve oksijen kimyasal olarak birleşerek, insan sağlığına ve çevreye zararlı azot oksitlere dönüşür. Azot oksitler akciğerde, nemle birleşip nitrik asit oluşturarak, solunum hastalıklarına yol açmaktadırlar. Dizel motorlarının hava fazlalığı ile çalışması, azot oksit oluşturma potansiyellerini artırmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, dizel motorlarından kaynaklanan azot oksit emisyonlarının azaltılması üzerinde durulmuş, bu amaçla tek silindirli bir dizel motorunun egzoz gazları belirli oranlarda (% 10, 20, 30) motorun emme hattına geri gönderilerek motor performansı ve egzoz emisyonlarındaki değişim izlenmiştir. Yapılan deneyler sonucunda EGR uygulaması ile azot oksit emisyonlarında önemli ölçüde düşüş olurken, duman emisyonu ve özgül yakıt tüketiminin kötüleştiği görülmüştür.Öğe Dizel Motorlarında Egzoz Gazları Resirkülasyonunun (EGR) Motor Performansı ve Egzoz Emisyonlarına Etkisinin Deneysel Analizi(2002) Haşimoğlu, Can; İçingür, Yakup; Öğüt, Hüseyinİçten yanmalı motorlarda yanma odasındaki sıcaklık 1800 K'nin üzerine çıktığında, havanın içerisindeki azot ve oksijen kimyasal olarak birleşerek, insan sağlığına ve çevreye zararlı azot oksitlere dönüşür. Mixing the biodiesel fuel, which was obtained from the safflower, with diesel fuel by adding bioethanol at the rate of 2.5% and 5% and volumetrically in inverse proportion, test fuels were acquired in the form of D100, E2.5B2.5D95, E5B5D90, E5B2.5D92.5 and E2.5B5D92.5. The tests of the diesel fuel and the obtained fuel blends were carried out related to the fuel features; kinematic viscosity, density, water content, pH, color, calorific value, flash point, cloud, pour and freezing points, copper strip corrosion test, iodine number, cold filter plugging point and cetane number. Also, the obtained blend was tried and examined on a four-cycle, single cylinder and on water cooled diesel engine with direct injection fuel system. The engine ran for 100 hours under partial load and the samples were taken from the engine oil at specific times and wear elements were searched. As a result of the analysis of the samples taken from engine lubricating oil, it was observed that as the engine run time increased, the wear elements in the samples increased, too. As a result of ICP oil analysis, the amount of wear elements such as iron, copper, aluminum, lead and chromium in engine lubricating oil were stated diagrammatically. It was determined that the use of E2.5B5D92.5 produced better results than the other types of fuels in terms of wear elementsÖğe Enerji Amaçlı Aspir Tarımında Farklı FosforUygulamalarının Biyodizel Kalitesine Etkileri(2015) Etkileri, Uygulamalarının Biyodizel Kalitesine; Öğüt, Hüseyin; Oguz, Hidayet; Şahin, Seda; Gezgin, Sait; Aydın, Fatih; Özen, DidemAspir; Genetik kaynağı Anadolu olan ve Türkiye'de biyodizel üretiminde hammadde olarak kullanılmaya başlanan bir bitkidir. Due to the fuels used in diesel engines being expensive and tendency of increase in its price, consumers have been forced to seek alternative fuels. However, the effects of fuels on environment and engines have been ignored. In this study, together with diesel fuel oil as a reference, the effects of number 10 mineral oil and waste vegetable neutralized oil on engine performance and exhaust emission were investigated. The engine used in study was diesel with single cylinder, four cycle, direct injection, and rate power of 15 HP engine. Results of the study showed that when both waste vegetable oil and number 10 mineral oil were used, the power and moment values have decreased 9.1% and 2.8%, respectively while the specific fuel consumption has increased.Öğe Investigation of the Usability of Biodiesel from Horse Oil in Diesel Engines(Selçuk Üniversitesi, 2023) Aydın, Fatih; Oğuz, Hidayet; Öğüt, HüseyinBiodiesel is an alternative diesel fuel produced from animal and vegetable oils. As an alternative and ecologically acceptable substitute for conventional fuel, biodiesel is produced from a wide variety of edible vegetable oils that are usually used for human consumption and whose prices are expected to rise in the future. In this context, reliable and lowcost raw materials are gaining increasing interest for biodiesel production, such as by-products of meat processing industries or waste animal fats. Biodiesel production from waste animal fat, and raw food does not compete with the industry and has a great potential for waste caused by the global decline. In our study, a potential alternative fuel was produced for diesel engines by using the non-food-grade fat portion of horse meat consumed in Middle Asia countries. Solid crude horse oil was liquefied, and its fatty acid components were analyzed and transformed into horse oil biodiesel by the transesterification method. It was determined whether the fuel properties of crude horse oil, horse oil biodiesel, and euro diesel fuel comply with the standard values, and their usability in diesel engines was investigated. As a result of the tests, it has been concluded that horse oil biodiesel does not meet the standards in terms of cold flow properties and can only be used at a rate of low volumetric ratios in diesel engines. This article will contribute to the use of horse oil biodiesel production stages and fuel properties in diesel engines and future studies.Öğe An Investigation of the Use of Rapeseed Oil in Agricultural Tractors as Engine Oil(TAYLOR & FRANCIS INC, 2001) Acaroğlu, Mustafa; Oğuz, Hidayet; Öğüt, HüseyinIn this study, as engine oil canola (rapeseed-00 oil), which is vegetable oil based and biodegradable, was used.
