Öğe Huge but asymtomatic mus?nous cyst adenoma of the ovary [Overin dev fakat asemptomatik musinöz kist adenomu](2010) Özbek O.; Özbek S.Huge ovarian musinous cystadenomas are frequently symptomatic because of the compression effects to the other organs and decreased life quality. Here we report a case of asymtomatic musinous cyst adenoma of ovary although it is very big. It is a rare condition for a huge cystadenoma like this to be asymptomatic. It is evaluated with MRI and decided to be musinonus cyst contain. Also there is not much study about MRI images of giant ovarian cystadenomas in literature.Key words: Normal growth, Sickle cell disease, subnasale to gnathion distance, nasal index.Öğe Normative regions and provincial development planning in Turkey [Türkiye'de Normatif Bölgeler ve İl Gelişme Planlamasi](2012) Özbek O.In ensuring the efficiency of the state's intervention (planning) for the creation of natural and built environment for developmental goals, different ways of labeling regional area lead to differences in terms of the performance of planning. This paper examines the efficiency of spatial development strategies in the administrative regions within a framework of the debate on functional versus normative regions. In Turkey, the efforts for the introduction of new implementation tools of spatial planning and redefinition of spatial planning hierarchy in the early 2000s made prominent the importance of sub-national scale. The efforts for socio-economic development gained a normative character through recent provincial development plans. The paper attempts to analyze the organic relationship between the definition problem of regional space and the efficiency of regional implementation tools under the topics of the classification and labeling of regional space and the normative tradition of planning in Turkey.Öğe Radiofrequency ablation of phalangeal osteoid osteoma: Technical challenges encountered in small bones [Falangeal osteoid osteomada radyofrekans ablasyon: Küçük kemiklerde karsilasilan teknik zorluklar](2011) Özbek O.; Nayman A.; Koç O.; Küçükapan A.; Özbek S.; Kerimo?lu Ü.Osteoid osteoma, a benign bone tumor, is characterized by a generally less than 1 cm nidus surrounded by a zone of reactive sclerosis. It is frequently located in the femur and tibia; on the other hand in up to 5% of cases it may be presented in upper extremities. In previous years, its treatment was usually open surgery with en-bloc resection or curettage of the tumor. Various minimal invasive percutaneous treatments including radiofrequency ablation became popular in last years. In this report, the difficulties encountered during radiofrequency ablation treatment in small bones is described in a 19-year-old female case of osteoid osteoma.Öğe Relationship between fetuin-A, inflammation, coronary artery calcification in hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients(2012) Türkmen K.; Kayikçio?lu H.; Özbek O.; Gaipov A.; Yerlikaya F.H.; Toker A.; Tonbul H.Z.OBJECTIVE: Vascular calcification is commonly seen in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Fetuin-A has been found to be a vascular calcification inhibitor and its level is significantly low in ESRD patients. The aim of our study was to investigate the relation between coronary artery calcification, inflammation and fetuin-A levels in peritoneal dialysis (PD) and hemodialysis (HD) patients. MATERIAL and METHODS: 46 PD (M/F=28/18) and 34 (M/F=20/14) HD patients were included in the study. Coronary artery calcification scoring was made by multi slice computed tomography. PD and HD patients were divided into 2 groups according to their median CACS values Serum levels of fetuin-A, CRP, IL-6 and TNF-a are studied. RESULTS: There were no differences in demographic features of PD and HD patients. There was a correlation between CACS, advanced age, dialysis vintage and fetuin-A. We could not find any correlation between infiammatory markers and CACS. There was a statistically significant difference between fetuin-A and CACS groups. CONCLUSION: Age, duration of dialysis, fetuin-A levels were found to be related to CACS in PD and HD patients. Fetuin-A may play a role in increased mortality in this population via facilitating CACS.Öğe Swyer-James syndrome: Demonstration by 64-slice 3D MDCT angiography and coronal MPR CT imaging(TIP ARASTIRMALARI DERNEGI, 2008) Sakarya M.E.; Koç O.; Aribaş O.; Özbek O.; Paksoy Y.; Nayman A.; Ödev K.The 64-slice three dimensional (3D) multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) angiography and high resolution coronal multiplanar reformation (MPR) computed tomography (CT) images in inspiration and expiration were performed in a patient suspected of having Swyer - James syndrome. The right pulmonary system was normal. The left lung was small and hyperlucent. The left pulmonary arterial system was small but patent. Both lung contained bronchiectasis. High resolution coronal MPR CT images confirmed air trapping in the left lung and the right upper lobe. A diagnosis of Swyer-James syndrome was made.Öğe Territorial embeddedness in the formation of city centers: The historical city center of Konya [Kent merkezleri?ni?n oluşumunda alansal gömülülük: Konya tari?hi? kent merkezi?](2005) Ter Ü.; Özbek O.In the comprehension of the constitution processes of socio-economic and socio-cultural space, the institutional approach emphasizes the importance of temporality and spatiality. From this viewpoint, city centers can be evaluated as the most important areas of spatial analysis in institutionalism. Within an institutional framework, the embeddedness of these centers appear to constitute in a structure in which there are an interaction between physical, socio-cultural and economic factors dependent on time and space. The formation of the historical city center in Konya can be discussed in a development process shaped by certain socio-spatial patterns specific both to the historical cities in Turkey and to Konya. In that respect, a spatial analysis within an institutional theoretical framework is taken as a basis in the explanation of the formation process of the historical city center in Konya as an experimental area of institutionalism.Öğe Type A interrupted aortic arch in a pediatric case: Cardiac MR imaging and MR angiograph findings [Pediatrik bir olguda tip A interrupted aortic arch: Kardiyak MR görüntüleme ve MR anjiografi bulgulari](2010) Paksoy Y.; Özbek O.; Koç O.; Nayman A.Congenital heart disease constitutes the most common form of pediatric heart diseases. Interrupted aortic arch is a relatively rare entity. This condition which can be defined as absence of luminal continuity of aortic arch has been reported to be associated with a number of congenital heart diseases in the literature. The two most important diagnostic tools are echocardiography and conventional angiography. In recent years, magnetic resonance imaging has become the most important since magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is noninvasive and has a superior diagnostic capability. We assessed a relatively rare interrupted aortic arch and accompanied aortic arch and cardiac abnormalities in a 14-day-old infant with cardiac MRI and MRA which are noninvasive and don't expose the patient to radiation and discussed their contribution to the diagnosis.
