Öğe Cost optimization of feed mixes by genetic algorithms(ELSEVIER SCI LTD, 2009) Sahman, M. Akif; Cunkas, Mehmet; Inal, Seref; Inal, Fatma; Coskun, Behic; Taskiran, UgurThe cost optimization is a key element to determine the least-cost feed mixture according to animals' nutrient requirements and the effective use of the sources. In this paper, the cost optimization of feeds is performed by genetic algorithm, considering the growing style and type, age, nutritional requirement and feedstuff costs for poultry and different types of animals. The proposed method is compared with linear programming approach to measure its performance. The obtained results show that Genetic algorithms could be applicable to the cost optimization of the feed mixtures. In addition, a software program is developed by using Delphi environment. which provides flexible, extensible and user-friendly framework for tuning the heuristic relevant parameters and improving the solution quality. The data obtained from 240 ewes and 54 rams for live weight (LW) and 12 body measurements were used. The study was conducted on 35 flocks in Kangal district of Sivas. Average live weight (LW) was 66.4 kg, shoulder height (SH) 75.9 cm, rump height (RH) 75.8 cm, body length (BL) 65.7 cm, rump width (RW) 20.4 cm, chest depth (CD) 35.0 cm, chest width (CW) 22.7 cm, chest girth (CG) 98.8 cm, head length (HL) 24.1 cm, ear length (EL) 17.6 cm, ear width (EW) 10.0 cm, front cannon bone circumference (FCBC) 9.5 cm and tail-tarsal joint distance (TTJD) 10.9 cm for ewes. The average live weight (LW) of rams was 102 kg and the body measurements of rams were higher than that of ewes with the exception of the ear length (EL) and the tail-tarsal joint distance (TTJD). The LW differences among different ages were significant both in rams and ewes. However, with exception of BL and RW, there were no significant differences in body measurements of rams in terms of ages. The phenotypic correlations between LW and body measurements were positive and significant in all traits except in TTJD. The highest phenotypic correlation (0.898) was between LW and CG As a result, when LW and body measurements of ewes and rams were evaluated in the study, it can be said that Kangal type Akkaraman sheep was the large sheep breed compared with native sheep breeds in Turkey.Öğe The development of organic egg production in Turkey(2016) Balevi, Tahir; Coskun, Behic; Gurbuz, Emel. Amaç: Bu çalışmada, organik yumurta üretiminin nasıl yapılacağına dair, uygun coğrafi konum, kafes, tavuk ırkları ve işletme idaresi için çeşitli yaklaşımlar ve öneriler verilerek saha çalışması yapılmıştır.Gereç ve Yöntem: Organik yumurta tavukçuluğunun hangi şartlarda yapılması gerektiğine yönelik bilgi araştırması yapıldı. Aynı zamanda saha çalışması için ticari bir firmada mevcut olan kümeslerden birine 3000, diğerine 1500 olmak üzere toplam 4500 adet yumurta tavuğu pilici (ISA Brown) konularak, organik yumurta üretimi yapıldı. Bulgular: Tavukların verim dönemleri boyunca yumurta verimlerinin %59.92-77.21, günlük yem tüketimlerinin 120135 g/gün, yemden yararlanma oranlarının 2.85-3.27, yumurta ağırlıklarının ise 55.34-66.19 g arasında değiştiği tespit edildi. 78. hafta sonunda ise mortalite oranının %16.96 olduğu görüldü.Öneri: Hem organik yumurta tavukçuluğunun, hem de diğer organik üretimlerin en kısa zamanda ülke genelinde yayılmasına, geliştirilmesine önderlik edilmelidir.Öğe Effect of adding linseed and selenium to diets of layer hen's on performance, egg fatty acid composition and selenium content(KAFKAS UNIV, VETERINER FAKULTESI DERGISI, 2012) Gurbuz, Emel; Balevi, Tahir; Coskun, Behic; Citil, Ozcan BarisIn a 4x3 factorial experiment, six hundred 31-week-old laying hens were fed diets containing 0, 25, 50 and 100 g/kg linseed with control, 0.3 mg/kg organic selenium (OrSe) and 0.3 mg/kg inorganic selenium (InSe) to determine the effects of diet on performance, eggshell parameters, egg fatty acid composition and selenium (Se) content of eggs. Laying hens were randomly assigned to 12 experimental groups with 5 replications. Linseed supplementation decreased egg production (d 1-30), feed consumption (d 1-30 and 1-90) and egg weight (d 60-90 and 1-90). Shell weight and thickness decreased when dietary linseed was increased. There were interactions between Se and linseed in feed consumption, feed efficiency, damaged egg ratio and shell thickness. The inclusion of InSe and OrSe increased the Se content of the eggs. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and n-3 fatty acid concentrations in egg yolks increased with increasing dietary linseed. There were also interactions between linseed and Se in ALA and n-3 fatty acid concentrations. In conclusion, the addition of linseed to the diets increased DHA, EPA, ALA and n-3 fatty acid concentrations in egg yolks, and the addition of Se increased the Se content of the eggs. Egg fatty acids (ALA, n-3 fatty acid) were increased by supplementing dietary linseed with OrSe.Öğe Effect of dried sugar beet pulp on some blood parameters and heart rate in exercised horses(KAFKAS UNIV, VETERINER FAKULTESI DERGISI, 2011) Gurbuz, Emel; Coskun, BehicThis research has been carried out in order to study the effects of using dried sugar beet pulp (DSBP) instead of oats on the blood parameters and heart rate of horses during exercise. The research has been performed using the 4x4 Latin Square design. The trial was carried out over 100 days. Each of the 4 periods of 25 days consisted of 21 adaptation days and 4 sampling days. In the trial, 4 different kinds of concentrated feed, balanced for energy and protein, were given to the control group, a 12.5% DSBP added group, a 25% DSBP added group and a 37.5% DSBP added group. No difference was found in the heart rate and blood samples of the horses to which the exercise test was applied, with regard to levels of plasma lactic acid, glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride (P > 0.05).Öğe Effects of graded levels of crude glycerine addition to diets on growth performance, carcass traits and economic efficiency in broiler chickens(KAFKAS UNIV, VETERINER FAKULTESI DERGISI, 2013) Sehu, Adnan; Kucukersan, Seher; Coskun, Behic; Koksal, Bekir HakanThe aim of the current study was to evaluate the effects of graded levels of crude glycerine addition to diets on growth and economic performance, carcass yield, organ weights and moisture levels of meat in broiler chickens. For this purpose, a total of 270 one day old male chicks (Ross 308) were randomly divided into 3 equal groups which fed with isocaloric and isonitrogenous diets with graded levels (0%, 5% and 10%, respectively) of crude glycerine. Each of experiment group was constituted by 5 subgroups with 18 birds each. The birds had ad libitum access to feed and water until termination of the experiment at d 42. Results indicated that 5% dietary crude glycerine addition improved body weight, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio compare with birds fed with basal diet at d 42 (P<0.01). Similarly, dietary 10% crude glycerine supplementation also increased growth performance and improved FCR in broiler chickens at 28th and 42nd days of experiment (P<0.05 and P<0.001, respectively). Moreover, birds fed with 5% dietary crude glycerine had showed over 20% higher relative economic efficiency compare than birds fed basal diet. As a conclusion, dietary crude glycerine addition improved growth and economic performance and Feed Conversion Ratio of broilers in both supplementation levels.Öğe Improving mobile sheep walk-over weighing system designed for quick, easy and accurate evaluation of herds' status in field(CURRENT BIOLOGY LTD, 2013) Polat, Esad Sami; Caglayan, Tamer; Garip, Mustafa; Coskun, Behic[Abstract not Available]
