Öğe Analysis of Basketball Trainers Views About Coronavirus-19 Phobia(Selçuk Üniversitesi, 2022 Nisan) Yalçın, Yahya Gökhan; Demirel, Havva; Altın, MehmetQuantitative research models were used in the study, which aimed to to assess the phobia related to the coronavirus-19 of basketball coaches working in Turkey Basketball Federation (TBF) and registered to Turkey's Basketball Coaches Association (TÜBAD). 21 women, and 216 men, 237 active basketball coaches in total, who are TÜBAD members at various levels by the Turkish Leagues, participated to the study. While the personal information form developed by the researchers was used to obtain demographic information in the study. The homogeneity and variances of the data were tested, Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test was applied, and it was determined that the data showed normal distribution. Independent Samples t Test was used in pair matches and One Way Anova test was used in multiple comparisons. Results were evaluated at 95% confidence interval and p <0.05 level. Cronbach's Alpha value for the overall scale was determined as .882. According to the results obtained from the findings of the study, no difference was observed in coranavirus 19 phobia values in terms of gender and coaching levels, while statistically significant differences were found in terms of age variables and the status of basketball trainers to practice a different profession besides coaching (p <0.05). It was observed that the differences were not observed in both variables in Somatic, Social, Economic and General Dimensions, but they differed in psychological dimensions and the differences were in favor of lower age groups depending on the age factor. As a result, coronavirus-19 phobia of basketball coaches serving in the Turkey Basketball Federation (TBF) and registered Basketball coach of Turkey's Basketball Coaches Association (TÜBAD) is not related to gender and rank, but young coaches have been determined that most affected group psychologically. Likewise, it was concluded that coaches who did a different profession other than coaching were also adversely affected by the situation and this negative situation might have occurred with the concern of working in multiple groups.Öğe Effects of Long-Term Training Program on Static and Dynamic Balance in Young Subjects(CANADIAN SOC CLINICAL INVESTIGATION, 2016) Gurkan, Alper Cenk; Demirel, Havva; Demir, Merve; Atmaca, Emine Seyda; Bozoyuk, Gulnihal; Dane, SenolPurpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the efficacy of a long-term training program of 10 weeks on static and dynamic balance parameters in a young healthy population. Methods: Participants were 35 young healthy female subjects. Balance measurements were done using the Flamingo Balance Test (FBT) for static balance and the Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT) for dynamic balance. Results: Dynamic balance points increased and static balance points decreased after a 10 week training protocol compared with before training, indicating improvement in both dynamic and static balance. Conclusions: These results indicate that long term training resulted in an improvement both static and dynamic balance. Training can be suggested for patients with balance problems.Öğe Right-sided lateralization of skin temperature in healthy young persons(CANADIAN SOC CLINICAL INVESTIGATION, 2016) Demirel, Havva; Bahar, Arzu; Gokgoz, Nurcan; Arslan, Muzeyyen; Dane, SenolPurpose: Previous studies reported a peripheral immune asymmetry and lateralization of different paired organ cancers. Because of the close relationship of immune system with body temperature, the aim of the study was to test the possible lateralization of skin temperature. Materials and Methods: Four hundred sixty three healthy subjects (325 women, 138 men) with an average age of 23.62 years (SD = 8.65) participated in this study. All skin temperature measurements were done 8:00-9:00 a.m. Skin temperature was assessed for three different points in skin: axillary, thumb and external auditory. Results: Skin temperature was statistically significantly higher on the right side of the body than on the left side, when measured by axillary and thumb temperatures. But there was no statistically significant difference in external auditory temperature. Conclusion: The asymmetry of skin temperature may result from the peripheral immune asymmetry or the asymmetric lymph node distribution.Öğe Sleep Quality Differs Between Athletes and Non-athletes(CANADIAN SOC CLINICAL INVESTIGATION, 2016) Demirel, HavvaPurpose: Sufficient sleep or sleep of sufficient quality is essential for the health of children, adolescents and adults, as sleep influences almost all dimensions of life. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible positive effects of sportsmanship on sleep quality and to assess the possible differences in sleep quality between athletes and non-athletes. Methods: Sedentary or non-athletes subjects (n= 103) and athletes (n= 93) participated in this study. The Turkish version of Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index was used to assess the points associated with sleep quality of participants before and one month after wet cupping therapy. Results: Athletes had statistically significantly higher Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index parameters compared with non-athletes. Conclusions: Long-term exercise or physical fitness is advised for better health and a life without stress, anxiety and depression and also for the normal brain function and emotional stability.Öğe Sports Participation Motivation in Disabled Individuals(Selçuk Üniversitesi, 2022 Aralık) Tüzer, Bekir Furkan; Demirel, HavvaWith this research, it was aimed to measure the motivation levels of individuals with disabilities studying at Selçuk University to participate in sports. In the study, the “Motivation Scale for Participation in Sports for Individuals with Disabilities” developed by Tekkurşun et al. (17) was used and applied to a total of 87 volunteer participants, 35 women (40.2%) and 52 men (59.8%). In the study, the scanning method was used and in order to determine the differences between the variables, the Mann Whitney U test was used to compare the differences between two independent groups, and the Kruskal Wallis test was used to compare more than two independent groups. As a result of the analysis, no significant difference was observed in the motivation levels of disabled individuals for participation in sports in terms of gender and age factors. On the other hand, as a result of the analysis of the individuals' types of disabilities and the types of sports they do, there was a significant difference in the motivation levels of participation in sports. It has been determined that the extrinsic motivation levels of visually impaired individuals are significantly lower than those of physically disabled and hearing impaired individuals. In addition, it was found that the internal and external motivation levels of individuals who do individual sports are significantly higher than those who do not do any sports. As a result, the concept of motivation has a very important place in every aspect of human life. The concept of motivation is much more important for individuals with a disability, which sometimes arises due to genetic factors and sometimes by being exposed to various negative situations in the ordinary course of life. It is a very valuable phenomenon for them to express themselves in daily life, to be valued and respected, to hold on to life, and to increase their life expectancy. One of the biggest factors that gather people under one roof and support the individual both emotionally and physically in sports. It is a known fact that individuals who live their lives in a limited way are physically and psychosocially motivated by participating in various physical activities, and their situation of seeing themselves as inadequate or inadequate to other people is somewhat eliminated. With this power of sports, the life expectancy of individuals who feel inadequate will increase and their inadequacies will be felt to a lesser extent.
