Öğe Anti-inflammatory activity of sesquiterpene lactones from Chrysophthalmum montanum (DC.) Boiss(ACG PUBLICATIONS, 2020) Ayaz, Fatma; Akkol, Esra Küpeli; Gören, Nezhun; Çalış, İhsan; Dereli, F. Tuğçe Gürağaç; Duman, Hayri; Choudhary, Muhammad Iqbal; Küçükboyacı, NurgünThe aerial parts of Chrysophthalmum montanum (DC.) Boiss. (Asteraceae) is traditionally used for wound healing, as well as for the treatment of common cold, sinusitis, and other inflammatory diseases. The objectives of this study were to identify potential anti-inflammatory effects of the methanol extract, and its different polarity subextracts (n-hexane, chloroform, n-butanol, and remaining aqueous), and guaianolide-type sesquiterpene lactones [6 alpha-acetoxy-4 alpha-hydroxy-1 beta H-guaia-9.11(13)-dien-12.8 alpha-olide (1), 6 alpha-acetoxy-4 alpha-hydroxy -9 beta.10 beta-epoxy- 1 beta H-guaia-11 (13)-en-12 .8 alpha-olide (2), 4 alpha ,6 alpha-dihydroxy -1 beta,5 alpha,7 alpha H-guaia-9(10),11 (13)-dien-12,8 alpha-olide (3), and (4 alpha,5 alpha,8 beta,10 beta)-4,10-dihydroxy-1,11(13)-guaidien-12,8-olide (4)] from the aerial parts of C. montanum. In order to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of C. montanum, carrageenan- and PGE(2) induced hind paw edema, and acetic acid-induced increase in capillary permeability mice models were used. The methanol extract, the chloroform subextract, and compounds 3, and 4 were shown to possess anti-inflammatory activity in in vivo models at 100 mg/kg dose. The results provide a biological, and phytochemical basis for the traditional use of C. montanum aerial parts for inflammatory conditions in Turkish folk medicine.Öğe Composition of the Essential Oils of Rhabdosciadium Oligocarpum (Post Ex Boiss.) Hedge Et Lamond and Rhabdosciadium Microcalycinum Hand.-Mazz.(John Wiley & Sons Ltd, 2006) Başer, K. Hüsnü Can; Özek, Gülmira; Özek, Temel; Duran, Ahmet; Duman, HayriThe volatile constituents of the oils of Rhabdosciadium oligocarpum (Post ex Boiss.) Hedge et Lamond and Rhabdosciadium microcalycinum Hand.-Mazz. (Umbelliferae) were isolated by hydrodistillation and microdistillation techniques and then analysed by GC and GC-MS. Germacrene D was found to be the main constituent in all the oils obtained.Öğe Dichoropetalum alanyensis (Apiaceae), a new species from South Anatolia, Turkey(TUBITAK SCIENTIFIC & TECHNICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL TURKEY, 2016) Bilgili, Bilgehan; Sagiroglu, Mehmet; Seker, Meryem; Duman, HayriDichoropetalum alanyensis Bilgili, Sagiroglu & H. Duman, a new species from South Anatolia in Turkey (Antalya-Alanya), is described and illustrated. It is closely related to D. chryseum (Boiss. & Heldr. ex Boiss.) Pimenov & Kljuykov, from which it differs mainly by its habit, basal leaves and lobes, and mericarp features. Diagnostic morphological characters are discussed. Notes are also given on its ecology and conservation status, together with scanning electron micrographs of mericarp surface sculpturing pattern. ITS sequences were used for DNA fingerprinting. The data were analyzed with the SEAVIEW package. Standardized data were used to generate a dendrogram that revealed the phylogenetic relationships of taxa in tribes Selineae (Dichoropetalum-Johrenia), Tordylieae (Cymbocarpum), and Bupleureae (Diplotaenia) from different localities.Öğe Essential Oil Composition of Tordylium elegans(SPRINGER, 2015) Kurkcuoglu, Mine; Tosun, Alev; Duran, Ahmet; Duman, Hayri; Baser, K. Husnu Can[Abstract not Available]Öğe Karyological studies of five taxa of Sideritis L. (Lamiaceae) section Hesiodia Benth. from Turkey(UNIV FLORENCE BOTANY INST, 2008) Esra, Martin; Duman, Hayri; Unal, FatmaThe number and size of the chromosomes in the Sideritis L. genus which belongs to Hesiodia (Benth.) section were studied using the Image Analysis System. Chromosome number was determinated as 2n=30+0-2B in S. lanata L., 2n=28+0-3B in S. romana L. subsp. romana, 2n=28+0-4B in S. curvidens Stapf., 2n=16+0-2B in S. montana L. subsp. montana and 2n=18+0-3B in S. montana L. subsp. remota (d'Urv.) P.W.Ball ex Heywood. The chromosome lengths in these taxa were found to vary from 0.37 mu m to 1.33 mu m.Öğe A new species of Cirsium sect. Epitrachys (Asteraceae: Cardueae) from the south of Turkey(TUBITAK SCIENTIFIC & TECHNICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL TURKEY, 2017) Duman, Hayri; Tugay, Osman; Dirmenci, Tuncay; Ertugrul, KuddisiA new species, Cirsium bozkirensis H. Duman, Dirmenci & Tugay (Asteraceae), Cirsium sect. Epitrachys DC, is described from Konya Province, South Anatolia, Turkey. Diagnostic and morphological characteristics that distinguish it from allied species C. cephalotes Boiss. and C. pugnax Sommier & Levier. are provided. A description, distribution map, and taxonomic comments on the new species and allied species are given. SEM photograph about setae, stem indumentum, and achene of new and allied species are obtained and characters are discussed.Öğe A new species of Cirsium sect. Three of these five species are naturally spread in Iran and the others are found in Turkey. Rhabdosciadium is represented with Rhabdosciadium microcalycinum Hand.-Mazz. and R. oligocarpum (Post ex Boiss.) Hedge & J.M.Lamond in Turkey. The comprehensive morphologic description of these two species' samples collected from Elazig and Osmaniye is made. In addition, the fruit and pollens are examined by the electron microscope (SEM) and their diagnostic characteristics are evaluated. Using the Inter-Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) as the DNA finger printing method, the molecular relationship between both of the species are examined. Also, the molecular connection of the Rhabdosciadium Boiss. species with the Echinophora L., Myrrhoides Heister ex Fabr., Chaerophyllum L. and Anthriscus Pers. genera is studied and their phylogenetic relations are shown with the dendogram. In addition to this information their distribution map is given.
