Öğe Color identification of some Turkish marbles(ELSEVIER SCI LTD, 2008) Gokay, M. K.; Gundogdu, I. B.Colors of marbles can be found in wide variety in nature. Since, marbles are used as decorative covering stone, their appearance is very important. Value of marbles in construction markets are changing according to their colors and textural characteristics. This paper describes bow the colors of some Turkish marbles differentiate from each other. Color identification software, MCA, had been developed in this research for capturing different colors of marbles according to Red, Green, Blue (RGB) and Hue, Saturation, Intensity (HIS), color codes. Computer files including these codes have been saved. in a color databank of national marbles. These values can also be used to classify the marbles homogeneity according to regional or origin bases. Digital color codes help the marble trader to identify colors of their marble products numerically which eliminate subjective decisions based on human eyes. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. B.Excess of produced coals should be kept in the stockyards of the collieries. The longer the duration time for these coals, the greater possibility for spontaneous combustion to take place. Spontaneously burnt coals result in economical and environmental problems. Therefore, taking the necessary precautions before an outburst of the spontaneous combustion phenomenon is too important in terms of its severe results. In this study, a stockpile having industrial dimensions was formed in coal stockyard. The effective parameters on the stockpiles of coal such as temperature and humidity of the weather, time, and atmospheric pressure values were measured. The interior temperature variations of these stockpiles caused by the atmospheric conditions were also measured. The interior temperature distribution maps of the stockpile together with maximum and minimum temperature values were expressed visually and numerically by the assistance of obtained data.Öğe Traffic management in Konya by junction risk factor(THOMAS TELFORD PUBLISHING, 2010) Gundogdu, I. B.With the growing population size and number of vehicles, traffic congestion is increasing, particularly in urban areas. Adequate junction management and control are necessary to prevent traffic accidents and jams and to provide optimal traffic flow. In this study, 103 inner city junction points in Konya province in Turkey have been evaluated in terms of their structural data, such as numerical data, intervals and related distances. The aim of the study is to eliminate traffic jams at junctions and to reduce the risk of accidents by regulating components of high-risk junctions in urban areas. Some main sources of traffic congestion have been formularised and termed ` junction risk factors' in long-term experiments. The appropriateness of the model was then compared and tested by kernel density estimation and Getis-Ord Gi statistical methods. The superiority of the new model is that the variables of the models are independent and do not affect each other. As a result, besides numerical suggestions, probable maps have been produced for the purpose of future route/ junction planning using geographic information systems.
