Öğe Dimensional changes and water sorption of two acrylic polymer materials reinforced with glass fibres.(2003) Ozturk A.N.; Inan O.; Yondem I.The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of glass fibre reinforcement on the dimensional changes and water sorption of a heat-polymerising denture acrylic polymer and a microwave-polymerising denture acrylic polymer. Fifteen specimens from each group were prepared with 2% by weight (18 mg) E-glass fibre and 15 without glass fibre. The dimensional change measurements were made at three different stages on the 60 specimens. The water sorption calculations were made on specimens immersed in distilled water at 37 degrees C +/- 1 degree C for 0, 1 and 7 days. Glass fibre reinforcement and processing method do not affect the dimensional change of test specimens, but as the time increased the dimensional change decreased. The glass fibre reinforcement decreased water sorption, but the two processing methods failed to show a significant difference.Öğe Effect of airborne-particle abrasion on retentive strength in overtapered fixed prosthodontic restorations(2008) Gurbuz A.; Inan O.; Kaplan R.; Ozturk A.N.Objective: To evaluate retentive strength and film thickness of complete metal crowns cemented to overtapered teeth with 3 different cements after the application of airborne- particle abrasion. Method and Materials: Sixty extracted maxillary molar teeth were embedded in autopolymerizing resin. Crowns were prepared with 30-degree overtapered axial walls and a 1-mm shoulder margin using a water-cooled cylindrical airborne-particle abrasion device. Then, 60 complete crowns were made from a nickel- chromium alloy. Teeth and crowns were assigned to 2 groups, 30 to the control group and 30 to the experimental group to undergo airborne-particle abrasion. In the first part of study, 30 teeth from the experimental group were submitted to the siliconreplica technique and their buccolingual cross sections were measured so that cement film thickness could be measured before airborne-particle abrasion. Three measurements using a light microscope were made in 7 regions of each tooth. In the second part of study, complete metal crowns with and without airborne-particle abrasion were distributed into 3 groups with 10 teeth each to be cemented with zinc phosphate, polycarboxylate, or resin-modified glass ionomer. All specimens were subjected to a tensile bond test in an universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 0.1 mm/min until failure. The results were then evaluated with Student t test at a 5% level of significance. Results: The film thickness showed no statistically significant differences among groups (P > .05). There was a significant difference between the control and experimental groups, with an increase in all 3 cements after airborne-particle abrasion (P < .05). The highest retentive strength in the control group was found with resin-modified glass ionomer (141.4 ± 56.7 N), but there was no significant difference between the resin-modified glass ionomer (141.4 ± 56.7 N) and zinc phosphate (121.4 ± 24.2 N) (P > .05). Retentive strength of polycarboxylate was the lowest (78.03 ± 16 N) (P < .05). For the experimental group, the difference among the zinc phosphate (220.5 ± 83.8 N), polycarboxylate (185.4 ± 60.8 N), and resin-modified glass ionomer (228.9 ± 62.4 N) was not statistically significant (P > .05). Conclusion: Airborne-particle abrasion had a positive effect on the retention of complete metal crowns when the crowns were cemented with zinc phosphate cement, polycarboxylate cement, or resin-modified glass-ionomer cement. © 2008 by Quintessence Publishing Co Inc.Öğe Multidisciplinary treatment in non-syndromic cleft lip and palate patients: 2 case reports(Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Dentistry, 2018) Sayin Ozel G.; Inan O.; Dolanmaz D.; Karaman A.I.Objective: It is intended in this case report to explain the multidisciplinary treatment of 2 non-syndromic cleft lip and palate patients with different approaches, the treatment phases of prosthetic rehabilitation and the results obtained. Case Reports:15-year-old unilateral cleft lip and palate patient and 25-year-old bilateral cleft lip and palate patient was admitted to our clinic with the functional and aesthetic complaints. Orthodontic, surgical and prosthetic treatments were applied Results: With multidisciplinary treatments aesthetic and functional solutions were provided. Aesthetic and functional results were obtained for both cases with fixed restorations. The treatments protocols had no complications. The outcomes were of high quality and brought satisfaction to the patients. Conclusion: Multidisciplinary treatment should be considered in cleft lip and palate patients in order to be able to fully ensure speech and hearing, continuation of occlusion and maxillofacial growth in the normal course and the improvement of physical appearance and psychological state. However, different treatment plans should be considered in its different timing for each case. © 2018 Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Dentistry.Öğe A new hybrid feature selection method based on association rules and pca for detection of breast cancer(2013) Inan O.; Uzer M.S.; Yilmaz N.In this study, a new hybrid feature selection method named as AP has been formed to detect breast cancer, using association rules (Apriori algorithm) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) together with artificial neural network classifier. Thanks to this hybrid system, both the decrease in the size of data and the successful and fast training of classifiers have been achieved. In order to detect the accuracy of the suggested system, Wisconsin breast cancer data have been used. 10-fold cross-validation has been used on the classification phase. The average classification accuracy of the developed AP + NN system is 98.29%. Among the studies performed through cross-validation method for breast cancer, our study result appears to be very promising. As the results suggest, this system, which is performed through size reduction, is a feasible system for faster and more accurate diagnosis of diseases. © 2013 ICIC International.
