(Pakistan Botanical Soc, 2006) Konuk, Muhsin; Afyon, Ahmet; Yağız, Dursun
Water, dried material, pH, protein, ash, lipid, cellulose, non-cellulose carbohydrate, Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Na, P, Zn contents of 15 edible and naturally growing mushrooms from Western Black Sea Region of Turkey have been analysed. Both organic and inorganic elements were analysed statistically by Pearson correlation analyse and some statistically meaningful values were obtained among the data obtained. Chemical analysis results also showed that mushrooms have large amount of protein and minerals, but lipid concentration is very low.

An Ethnobotanical Survey of Inner-West Anatolia, Turkey
(SPRINGER/PLENUM PUBLISHERS, 2008) Kargioglu, Mustafa; Cenkci, Sueleyman; Serteser, Ahmet; Evliyaoglu, Nurcan; Konuk, Muhsin; Koek, M. Samil; Bagci, Yavuz
This study is focused on ethnobotanical usages of wild plants growing within the Afyonkarahisar province districts of Sinanpasa, Hocalar and Dazkiri. Ninety local informants in 11 villages were interviewed. A total of 129 different usages of wild plants in the study area were recorded. Out of 650 plant species commonly present, 93 plant taxa (14.3%) belonging to 43 families were used for medicinal (52 citations), foodstuff (37 citations), fodder (14 citations), dye (six citations), firewood (five citations), construction materials (four citations) and miscellaneous purposes (11 citations). At least 15% of the information regarding ethnobotanical uses of wild plants was obtained by showing herbarium voucher samples to the informants. It was noted that Sideritis leptoclada and Verbascum stenostachyum are endemic to Turkey and their endangered status has markedly increased in recent years because of increased collecting for ethnobotanical purposes. Informants indicate that members of the younger generation have a much reduced interest in ethnobotanical knowledge and that this is a danger to the continued use of local plants.

Minor element and heavy metal content of edible wild mushrooms native to Bolu, North-West Turkey
(PARLAR SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS (P S P), 2008) Yakiz, Dursun; Konuk, Muhsin; Afyon, Ahmet; Koek, Samil M.
The minor element (Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, P, Zn) and heavy metal (Cd, Cr, Ni, Ph) contents of eight edible wild mushrooms (Amanita ovoidea, Boletus edulis, Clitocybe geotropa, Hydnum repandum, Lactarius musteus, Macrolepiota procera, Melanoleuca brevipes, Melanoleuca subalpina), from the Province of Bolu in North-West Turkey, were analysed. Marked differences were noted in mineral composition between these mushroom species. The results showed that some of them have significant levels of minerals, thus providing a good alternative source of nutrition for those requiring specialised diets. Levels of heavy metals were found to be within safe limits. The data were analysed statistically by Pearson's two-tailed correlation analysis and statistically significant relationships were observed. Mineral contents were determined using a Varian Vista Model ICP-AES apparatus.
