Öğe The Accusative of the Noun in German and Turkish(SELCUK UNIV, FAC LETTERS, 2018) Uslu, Zeki; Uyanik, AyseThe subject of this study is the accusative of the noun in German and Turkish. The aim of the study is to find similarities and differences in the field of the accusative and to develop solution proposals for learning difficulties. The study consists of two parts. In the first part, the accusative case of the noun is examined in detail in both languages. The biggest difference between two languages is found in the definiteness of the accusative object. The accusative object can be used in Turkish with or without suffix -I. The accusative object with the suffix -i is determined. But the definiteness of the object must be shown in German with the definite article. The second part examines the students' test. A test has been carried out at Selcuk University, Konya among students in the Department of German Language and Literature. An analysis of the mistakes showed that there are particular problems regarding the translation of Turkish sentences into German and declension of the articles. It became clear that the mistakes not only consist of the structural differences between the two languages, but also that the first foreign language English plays an important role. The foreign language learner must be more careful when comparing languages and their language awareness needs to be developed.Öğe Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı bölümlerinde öğrenci motivasyonu(Selçuk Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi, 2017) Uslu, Zeki; Uyanık, AyşeBu çalışmanın amacı, Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümlerinde öğrenci motivasyonunu incelemek ve programda düzenlemeler yapılması için öneriler geliştirmektir. Konuya ilişkin öğrenci görüşlerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla likert tipi bir anket ölçeği hazırlanmıştır. Yirmi yedi önermeden oluşan veri toplama aracı, iki yüz yirmi beş kişilik bir örneklem grubuna uygulanmış, elde edilen veriler frekans ve yüzde hesabıyla çözümlenerek değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın bulgularına göre, Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı öğrencileri Almancayı, İngilizcenin ardından ikinci yabancı dil olarak öğrenmektedir. Bu nedenle hazırlık sınıflarında aldıkları dil eğitimi bölümdeki başarılarında çok önem taşımaktadır. Öğrencilerin bölümü seçmelerinde etkili olan araçsal motivasyonları orta düzeydedir. Bölümde okumanın idealleri olmadığı ve hazır bulunuşluk düzeylerinin orta seviyede olduğu görülmektedir. Motivasyon eksikliği nedeniyle başarılı olmak için yeterli çabayı göstermedikleri anlaşılmaktadır. Ders dışı etkinliklerin öğrenci motivasyonunu artıracağı öngörülmektedir. Bu saptamalara göre Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı müfredatında öğrenci merkezli, proje odaklı ve ders dışı etkinlikleri dikkate alan güncellemeler yapılmalıdır.Öğe An evaluation of german student teachers within the context of learner autonomy(2012) Uslu, ZekiThe purpose of this research is to evaluate German student teachers within the context of learner autonomy. A Likert-type questionnaire including 23 items is developed to gather data and carried out on the students in German Language Teaching (GLT) Department, in Education Faculty at Dicle University. Three different variances are discussed: learning strategies, learning styles, anxiety and expectations. According to the findings, the students learn better in teacher-based classrooms. They do not have enough knowledge and positive experience on the student-based activities such as group works and research papers. The students do not follow a proper schedule to study, they do not study daily regularly, and they only study hard when they have examinations. It is found out that studying alone is a common habit. Instead of the expectation of being trained well in their branches, most of the students attend lessons to get a faculty diploma. If an education notion which is based on learner autonomy is anticipated, first of all, it should be realized in teacher training programmes.Öğe Funktionsverbgefüge im Deutschen und Türkischen: eine analyse in ausgewählten zeitungstexten(Selçuk Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi, 2017) Düşünceli, Derya Koray; Uslu, ZekiBu çalışmanın amacı, Almancada ve Türkçede anlamca kaynaşmış birleşik eylemleri karşıtsal dilbilim çerçevesinde incelemektir. Bir ad ve bir eylemin birleşmesiyle oluşan bu yapılar Almancada bir dilbilgisi kategorisi olarak ele alınmaktadır. Buna karşın, bu yapıların Türkçede henüz yeterince araştırılmadığı görülmektedir. Almancada kullanılan belirleyici ölçütler Türkçe için de uygulanmış ve birleşik eylemler içinde ele alınan anlamca kaynaşmış ad-eylem yapılarının bu kategoriye uyduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ad-eylem birleşmelerinin her iki dilde morfolojik, sözdizimsel ve anlamsal ortak özellikler taşıdığı belirlenmiştir. İncelenen bu yapıların özellikle yazı dilinde sık kullanılması nedeniyle çalışmanın uygulama bölümünde A lmanca v e T ürkçe b asın d ilindeki a d-eylem birleşmeleri araştırılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda yapının her iki dilde sık kullanıldığı ve benzer özellikler gösterdiği, ad bölümünün genellikle bir fiilden türediği, Almancada ilgeçli yapıların daha sık kullanıldığı, Türkçede ise belirtme durumdaki yapıların daha çok kullanım bulduğu ve yapının edilgen anlam taşıyabildiği tespit edilmiştir.Öğe Language Learning Behaviors of Turkish German Studens in Territorial and Multilingual South East Anatolia(Gesellschaft Deutsche Sprache, 2012) Uslu, Zeki[Abstract not Available]Öğe Light-verb constructions in German and Turkish: an analysis in selected newspapers(SELCUK UNIV, FAC LETTERS, 2017) Dusunceli, Derya Koray; Uslu, ZekiThe aim of this study is to investigate the light verb constructions in German and Turkish within the framework of contrastive linguistics. These constructions are obtained by combining a noun and verb and regarded as a grammatical category in German. On the other hand, it is seen that these constructions have not been investigated adequately in Turkish. The determiner criteria in German were applied for Turkish and it was determined that the light verb (noun-verb) constructions discussed in compound verbs fit into this category. It was also determined that noun-verb compounds have common morphological, syntactic and semantic characteristics in both languages. The noun-verb compounds in press language of both German and Turkish were investigated in the practical part of this study as these constructions are used especially in written language. As a result of the study, it was determined that these constructions are frequently used in both languages and share similar characteristics, the noun sections are generally derived from a verb, the prepositions are more frequently used in German, the accusative cases are more frequently used in Turkish and these structures may have passive meanings.Öğe MOTIVATION OF STUDENTS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF GERMAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE(SELCUK UNIV, FAC LETTERS, 2017) Uslu, Zeki; Uyanik, AyseThis study aims to analyze the motivation of students at the Department of German Language and Literature (GLL) in the Faculties of Letters and to develop suggestions for the rearrangemants in the programme. Descriptive research design is followed in this study. A Likert type scale has been developed to learn the opinions of the students on the subject. The instrument which consists of 27 items has been administered to a sample of 225 students and the data obtained were analyzed according to frequencies and percentages. In the light of the data obtained, students of the department of GLL learn German as a second foreign language after having learned English. Hence, the language education received in the preparatoryclass has a crucial importance to determine their success level in the department of GLL. The influence of instrumental motivation is at medium-level. In the department, it has been observed that their ideal was not to study in the department of GLL and their school readiness is also at medium-level. It has also been deduced that due to lack of motivation, students do not put enough effort into their studies in the department. However, we foresee that extracurricular activities may increase students' motivations. As in line with the results of this study, it has been revealed that some updates should be made in the curriculum of the department of GLL so as to make it more student-centred, project-oriented and inclusive of extracurricular activities.Öğe ON THE GERMAN TRANSLATION OF THE TURKISH NATIONAL EPIC: DEDE KORKUT(SELCUK UNIV, FAC LETTERS, 2016) Uncu, Nese; Uslu, Zeki; Uncu, CemThis study analyzes the translation of Dede Korkut epic made by Hendrik Boeschoten with reference to text-typological approach. Heroic epic, Dede Korkut is regarded as one of the most important common values in Turkic world. As it will be observed during the study, the content of the study includes cultural elements and this makes its translation more difficult. In this analysis, our basic criteria are some parameters such as equivalence, adequateness, correctness and correspondence. In our evaluation, lexical, semantic, pragmatic and stylistic equivalence are taken into account. After having evaluated its German translation, it has been concluded that form-stressed text type has been paid attention. And moreover, its content has been transmitted to the readers of the target language with the usage of suitable equivalents as well as footnotes and explanations succesfully. In this evaluation, some of the translation mistakes and their alternatives are also dealt with.Öğe Zur übersetzung vom Türkischen nationalepos Dede Korkut(Selçuk Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi, 2016) Uncu, Neşe; Uslu, Zeki; Uncu, CemGegenstand dieses Artikels ist die Übersetzungskritik an der Übersetzung des türkischen Heldenepos Dede Korkut von Hendrik Boeschoten, im Hinblick auf den texttypologischen Ansatz von Katharina Rei?. Das Heldenepos Dede Korkut gehört zu den wichtigsten gemeinsamen Schätzen der türkischen Welt. Wie sich im Folgenden zeigen wird, durchziehen kulturelle Elemente den ganzen Text und machen seine Bedeutsamkeit aus, stellen jedoch gleichzeitig auch ein großes Problem-Potential bei der Translation dar. Als Maßstäbe bei der Untersuchung galten: Äquivalenz, Adäquatheit, Korrektheit und Korrespondenz. Für die Evaluierung wurde die Realisierung der lexikalischen, semantischen, pragmatischen und stilistischen Instruktionen analysiert. Die Auswertung der deutschen Übersetzung zeigte, dass die Forderung an den 'formbetonten' Texttyp grundsätzlich beachtet wurde. Durch passende Äquivalente, so wie Erläuterungen und Fußnoten, ist es dem Übersetzer gelungen den Inhalt adäquat an den Zieltextleser zu bringen. Kleinere Auffälligkeiten, sowie mögliche Alternativen wurden ebenfalls ausgearbeitet.
