Özet
Amaç – İlk amaç, ortodoks iktisadın eleştirisini yapmak ve metodolojik eksikliklerinden bahsetmektir. İkincisi, heteredoks iktisadın ehemmiyetini ortaya koymak ve metodolojik üstünlüklerinden bahsetmektir. Üçüncü amacı ise edebi eserlerin iktisadi kaynak olarak kullanılabileceğini literatür çalışmalarından hareketle ortaya koymak ve örnek bir uygulama ile bunu göstermektir Yöntem - Teorik açıdan ortodoks ve heterodoks iktisat karşılaştırması yapılmıştır. Ortodoks iktisat metodolojisi eleştirel gözle irdelenmiştir. Pratik yöntem olarak ise Saatleri Ayarlama Enstitüsü (SAE) adlı roman iktisadi olarak incelenmiş ve dönemin iktisadi hayatını anlamak adına ilgili kısımlar alıntılanmış ve yorumlanmıştır. Bulgular – SAE adlı romanda, yazarın Osmanlı İmparatorluğu son dönemi ile Türkiye Cumhuriyeti ilk dönemi çalışma hayatı, tüketim alışkanlıkları ve sosyal hayat hakkında hem makro hem de mikro düzeyde değerlendirmeleri tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç – Ortodoks iktisatta mevzubahis edilmeyen ancak iktisadi olaylar karşısında ortaya çıkan birçok insani ve toplumsal hal ve davranışlar heterodoks iktisat yazınında ele alınmaktadır. Bundan dolayı heterodoks iktisat alanında yapılan çalışmalar birer tamamlayıcı çalışma olarak kabul edilmeli ve gereken ehemmiyet gösterilmelidir.
Purpose –The primary purpose is to criticize orthodox economics and to mention its methodological shortcomings. Second purpose is to reveal the importance of heterodox economics and emphasize its methodological advantages. The third goal is to exhibit the importance of literary works as an economic tool by both making a literature review and inquiring a novel as a sample. Methodology –Theoretically, orthodox and heterodox economics are compared. Orthodox economics methodology is scrutinized critically. As a practical method, the famous Turkish novel named The Time Regulation Institute (TRI) is examined with an economic perspective and the relevant parts are quoted and interpreted in order to understand the economic life of the period. Findings – In the novel TRI, author’s macro and micro evaluations about business life, consumption habits and social life of the last years of the Ottoman Empire and the first years of the Republic of Turkey are determined. Conclusions – In heterodox economics, situations and behaviors related to economic events are discussed which are not mentioned in orthodox economics. Therefore, studies in the field of heterodox economics should be considered as complementary studies and the necessary attention should be paid.
