A total of 190 goat sera from two state farms in Yozgat and Konya regions were examined using Agar Gel Inimunodiffusion (AGID) test and Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) to determine the prevalence of Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis Virus (CAEV) infection. Seropositivity with AGID and ELISA were 1.57 and 3.68% in these farms, as respectively. Although the prevalence of CAEV infection was found higher in the farm in Yozgat region, it was lower than the previous studies in Turkey. Furthermore, in this study only female goats (both Ordinary and Angora goats) were found seropositive by these two tests. However, the prevalence of infected seropositive Angora goats and older goats were higher in herds. In this study, correlation between AGID and ELISA for detecting antibodies to CAEV was found to be 97.89%. Also, it was determined that ELISA is more sensitive than AGID test for diagnosis of CAEV infection.
