The determination of plasma pseudocholinesterase (PChE) and erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity has been suggested as a diagnostic aid for Hirschsprung's disease (HD). In this study plasma PChE and erythrocyte AChE activity was measured in patients in whom the diagnosis of HD was confirmed (n=9) and in patients in whom the diagnosis of HD was excluded (n=12). There was no significance in PChE and erythrocyte AChE in both groups. This study suggests that PChE and erythrocyte AChE are not reliable diagnostic aid for HD.en_US
