| dc.description.abstract | Bu çalışmanın amacı Ernest Hemingway'in ?The Old Man and The Sea? adlı eserinin Türkçe iki çevirisi arasındaki farklılıkları göstermektir. Original hikaye ve Özburun&Şimşek'e, diğeri ise Azizoğlu'na ait olan çeviriler arasındaki farklılıkları gösterebilmek için Hemingway'in eserinin Türkçe çevirileri irdelenmiş ve anlamsal, yapısal, stil açısından farklılıklar gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. Ve daha iyi bir çeviri yapabilmek için çözümler sunulmuştur. Orijinal hikaye ve iki çevirisi incelenmeden önce çevirinin tanımı pek çok dilbilimcinin görüşlerine de ter verilerek yapılmış, çeviri yaparken kültürün önemi, kültürel kelimelerin çevirisi ve kültürün çeviriyi sınırlamasına da ayrıntılı olarak yer verilmiştir. Çeviri işinin bir sanat mı bilim mi ya da bir beceri mi olduğu ise incelenmiştir. Çeviri metodları, yöntemleri, stratejilerine de değinilmiş ve son olarak da iyi bir çevirmenin hangi özelliklere sahip olması gerektiğinden bahsedilmiştir. Çalışmamız şunu göstermektedir ki etkili bir çeviri yapabilmek için tercüman öncelikle çeviri yaptığı metinin yazarını her yönüyle anlamalı ve hem hedef hem de kaynak dili mükemmel bir şekilde bilmelidir. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | This study attemts to present to show the variations between the two different versions of ?The Old Man and The Sea?. In order to view the variations between the original text and the translated texts that cause defects in meaning, two translations of Hemingway?s novel ?The Old Man and The Sea? are analyzed and the most typical excerpts that show these variations at semantic, syntactic and stylistic levels are presented in the translations of Özburun&Şimşek and Azizoğlu. Then, possible solutions to make an adequate and a consistent translation are suggested. Before analyzing the original text and the two variations, we study the definitions of translation according to different view of sicentists. The impact of culture on translation process, translation procedures to translate culturally bound words and cultural constraints are investigated. It is also disgussed whether translation is an art, a science or a craft. Translation theory and translation strategies, methods are presented. Then finally, qualities of a translator is emphasized. Our study suggests that in order to make an efficient translation, translators should fully understand the sense and meaning of the original author although he is at liberty to clarify obscurities and should have a perfect knowledge of both source and target language. | en_US |
