| dc.description.abstract | Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, hareketli protez kullanan hastaların protez hijyen alışkanlıklarını, bu hastalardaki protez stomatiti görülme sıklığını ve diş hekiminin rolünü değerlendirmektir. Gereç ve yöntem: Çalışmaya hareketli protez kullanan 301 hasta dahil edilmiştir. Katılımcıların sosyo-demografik özellikleri, protez hijyen alışkanlıkları ve klinik muayene bulgularını içeren ve toplam 11 maddeden oluşan standardize formlar hazırlanmıştır. Formlar, bir protez uzmanı tarafından, karşılıklı konuşma ile doldurulmuştur. Elde edilen veriler, tanımlayıcı istatistikler, t-testi, Fisher’ın kesin testi ve ki-kare testi kullanılarak istatistiksel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: Çalışmaya 39 ile 93 yaşları arasında, 154’ü kadın, 147’si erkek katılımcı dahil edilmiştir. Katılımcıların eğitim seviyeleri ile; protezlerindeki diş taşı varlığı, gece protezlerini çıkarma alışkanlıkları ve protez stomatiti görülme sıklığı arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Katılımcıların gelir seviyeleri ile; protezlerindeki diş taşı varlığı ve protez stomatiti görülme sıklığı arasında anlamlı ilişki bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Diş hekimleri tarafından protez hijyen alışkanlıkları hakkında bilgilendirildiğini ifade eden katılımcıların protezlerinde, bilgilendirilmeyenlerden daha az oranda plak/diş taşı olduğu gözlenmiştir. Protez kullanım süresi arttıkça protezlerdeki plak/diş taşı varlığı ve protez stomatiti görülme sıklığının arttığı belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Hareketli protezlerin kullanım süresini uzatmak ve hareketli protezlere bağlı olarak oluşabilecek lezyonların önlenmesi için hastalar protezlerinin hijyeni ve periyodik kontrolleri konusunda diş hekimleri tarafından bilgilendirilmelidir. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Background: The purpose of this study was to assess denture hygiene habits, the prevalence of denture stomatitis in these denture wearers and the role of the dentist. Methods: Three hundred and one patients had been included in this study. The standard questionnaires which consisted of 11 items including the socio-demographic features, denture hygiene habits and clinical findings of the participants were prepared. The questionnaires were filled with conversation by a prosthodontist. Data were statistically analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-tests, Fisher exact tests, and chi-squared tests. Results: One hundred and fifty-four female and 147 male individuals, aged between 39 and 93 were participated in these study. Statistically significant correlation was found between education level of the participants and plaque/calculus in dentures and the prevalence of denture stomatitis (p<0.05). Statistically significant correlation was found between income level of the participants, plaque/calculus in dentures and prevalence of denture stomatitis (p<0.05). Participants who had been informed about dental hygiene habits by dentists were observed to have less plaque/calculus in their dentures than not informed ones. It was determined that as the duration of prosthesis increased, the frequency of plaque/calculus and prosthetic stomatitis was increased. Conclusion: The patients should be informed by the dentists about denture hygiene and periodic controls to increase the denture service life and prevent the lesions due to the removal dentures. | en_US |
