Özet
Geçtiğimiz yüzyılda yerleşmeler üzerindeki değişim iki eş zamanlı mekansal eğilim ile karakterize edilebilir. Bunlardan birincisi kentsel alanda nüfus ve ekonomik aktivitelerin giderek yoğunlaşması, ikincisi eğilim ise kent formunun ciddi bir dönüşümünü de beraberinde getiren kentsel yayılma sürecidir. Bu dönüşüm süreci; kentsel alanın kırsal alanlara doğru genişlemesi, her türlü arazi kullanımlarının yoğunluğunun nüfus yoğunluğu açısından azalma göstermesi belli noktalar arasında yüksek ilişkili ulaşım ağının sağlanması, konut alanlarının diğer arazi kullanım tiplerinden ayrılması ve ikincil alt kentlerde konut alanlarının gelişimi olarak karakterize edilebilir. Bu çalışmada, kentsel planlama kararlarının kentsel gelişme ve kent formu üzerindeki etkileri, Konya kent formu örneklem alam üzerinden incelenmiştir.
Changes in human settlement patterns during the twentieth century can be characterised as the outcome of two simultaneous spatial trends: the concentration of an increasing share of the population and economic activities into urban areas; and the dispersion of population and economic activities within uroan areas. The second trend, which is commonly referred to as urban sprawl, represents a fundamental transformation of urban form. It is characterised by an outward expansion of the urban areas from rural land uses; a general decline in intensity of all forms of land uses, as measured by population densities; transport networks that provided high connectivity among points, even in peripheral parts of the city; and the segregation of residential from other land uses, with the greater part of residences locating in peripheral suburbs. Li this study, it has examined the urban development and urban form effects of urban planning decisions on the case area of Konya urban form
