dc.description.abstractAmaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı Konya ilindeki devlet okullarında okuyan, 14-18 yaş grubu lise çağındaki genç bireylerde Periodontitis prevelansını araştırmak ve bu bireylerin periodontal tedavi gereksinimlerini belirlemektir. Gereç ve yöntem: Toplam 362 lise öğrencisi (174 kız ve 188 erkek) çalışmaya dahil edildi. Tüm öğrenciler kendi okullarında gün ışığında, Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (WHO)’nun periodontal sondu ve ayna kullanılarak muayene edildi. Periodontal tedavi gereksinimi, Toplum Periodontal Tedavi Gereksinimi İndeksi “Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs” (CPITN) kodlamasına göre belirlendi. Bulgular: Muayene edilen toplam 362 öğrenci içerisinden üç öğrenciye (1 kız ve 2 erkek) periodontitis teşhisi konuldu. Toplam 2172 sekstant incelendi ve 1220 sekstantın (% 56.17) sadece ağız hijyeni eğitimi gereksinimi, 889 sekstantın (% 40.93) diştaşı temizliği gereksinimi ve 5 sekstantın da (% 0.23) diştaşı temizliğine ilave olarak ileri periodontal tedavi gereksinimi olduğu belirlendi. Sonuç: Bu çalışmanın limitleri dahilinde Konya ilinde lise çağındaki öğrencilerde periodontitis prevelansının % 0.83 ve kız/erkek oranının 1:2 olduğu tespit edildi. Muayene edilen toplam 2172 sekstantta sadece 58 sekstantın (% 2.67) tedaviye gereksiniminin olmadığı belirlendi.en_US
dc.description.abstractBackground: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of periodontitis among school students aged 14 to 18 years in Konya city and determine the periodontal treatment needs. Methods: A total of 362 students (174 females and 188 males) selected from 12 public schools participated in the study. The subjects were interviewed and examined clinically at their schools with sunlight access. Their mouths were coded according to the recommendations of the Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs (CPITN) using a mirror and a World Health Organization 621 ball-tip probe. Results: 362 students were screened and 3 (one female and two males) were diagnosed with periodontitis. Total of 2172 sextants were examined and determined that 1220 (56.17 %) required oral hygiene motivation only, 889 (40.93 %) required scaling, and 5 (0.23 %) required scaling and further complex periodontal treatment. Conclusion: Within the limits of this study, the prevalence of periodontitis was 0.83 % in the public school students in Konya with a female/male ratio of 1:2. Among the 2172 sextants, only 58 (2.67 %) did not require periodontal treatment.en_US
