Özet

History knowledge of today's modern society is mostly composed of literary works such as novels, stories and visual areas such as television, cinema, etc. If we consider that the fiction elements are prioritized in these areas, any misinformation conveyed will create mistakes and prejudices in the memory of the community. In this study, the reflection of Ertugrul Frigate disaster on two literary works written at different times and different languages has been examined. The author of the first novel is Omer Ertur and his book was published in Japanese, English and Turkish languages. Therefore, this novel is very important for the image of the Turkish in Japan and Europe. Ertur has given every detail about Ertugrul Frigate disaster in true faith and examined the events in all its dimensions as a historical research book although there is a fiction based on facts in his novel. The author of the other novel is Burhan Arif Ongun. His book is the first novel written about Ertugrul Frigate disaster and when considered from this point of view, it is very important. However, Ongun has not told much about Ertugrul Frigate disaster and created a fantasy world independent from the main cause. The work has the characteristics of a romance novel rather than a historical novel.
