Özet
Araştırmanın amacı, kadınların mesleki kimliklerini ifade etmede giyim ve modanın rolünü ortaya koymaktır. Bu doğrultuda; kimliğin oluşturulmasında ve sürdürülmesinde giyim ve modanın etkileri, kişisel, sosyal ve mesleki kimliklerinin giyim tarzı ve giysi seçimlerine etkileri, benzer sosyoekonomik statüye sahip farklı mesleklerde çalışan kadınların giysilerindeki farklılıklar araştırılmıştır. Karma yöntemli araştırmanın nicel bölümünün, tesadüfi yöntemle belirlenen örneklemi, Amasya ve İzmir'de çalışan, 120 öğretmen, 120 avukat, 120 bankacı olmak üzere 360 kadından oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın nitel bölümü, birinci bölümüne katılanlar arasından sistematik örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen, Amasya'daki üç meslekten 10'ar kişi, İzmir'deki üç meslekten 10'ar kişi toplamda 60 katılımcıdan oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada, katılımcıların sosyodemografik özeliklerini belirlemek, giysi seçimlerinde kişisel, sosyal, mesleki kimliklerinin etkilerini ölçmek amacıyla, araştırmacı tarafından literatürden yararlanılarak geliştirilen anket uygulanmıştır. Çalışan kadınların, iş yeri giysi seçimlerinde hangi faktörlere dikkat ettiklerini belirlemek amacıyla, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme uygulanmıştır. Görüşmeye gelirken, giyim tarzı ve giysi seçimlerindeki farklılıkları belirlemek amacıyla, iş yerinde çekilmiş, giysi detaylarının görüldüğü beş fotoğraf istenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, İzmir ve Amasya'da çalışan üç meslek gurubunun iş yerinde spor klasik tarzı, giysi türü olarak pantolonu, giysi seçiminde en çok rahatlığı tercih ettikleri görülmüştür. Giysi seçimlerinde; avukatlarda marka, duruşma, müvekkil görüşmesi, ofiste çalışmanın; bankacılarda kurum kimliği, çalışılan şube, yönetici toplantıları, firma temsilci görüşmelerinin; öğretmenlerde, moda, öğretmen kimliği, resmi bayramlar, toplantılar, nöbet faktörlerinin etkili olduğu belirlenmiştir. İzmir ve Amasya'da çalışan üç meslek gurubunun giysi seçimlerinin yüksek oranda benzerlik gösterdiği, giysi kol boylarında farklılık olduğu saptanmıştır. Amasya'da çalışan kadınlar, çoğunlukla kısa veya uzun kollu modellerle mesleki kimliklerini ifade ederken, İzmir'de çalışan kadınların kolsuz modellerle mesleki kimliklerini ifade ettikleri belirlenmiştir.
The aim of the research is to reveal the role of clothing and fashion in expressing women's professional identities. In this direction; the effects of clothing and fashion on the creation and maintenance of identity, the effects of personal, social and professional identities on clothing style and clothing choices, the differences in the clothing of women working in different professions with similar socioeconomic status were investigated. The sample of the quantitative part of the mixed-method research, which was determined by random sampling method, consists of 360 women working in Amasya and Izmir, including 120 teachers, 120 lawyers and 120 bankers. The qualitative part of the research consists of a total of 60 participants, 10 each from three professions in Amasya and 10 each from three professions in Izmir, selected by systematic sampling method among the participants of the first part. In the study, a questionnaire developed by the researcher using the literature was applied to the participants in order to determine their sociodemographic characteristics and to measure the effects of personal, social and professional identities on their clothing choices. A semi-structured interview was conducted to determine which factors working women pay attention to in their workplace clothing choices. In order to determine the differences in clothing style and clothing choices, five photographs taken at the workplace and showing the details of clothing were requested. As a result of the research, it was observed that three occupational groups working in Izmir and Amasya prefer sports classical style at work, trousers as a type of clothing, and the most effective factor in clothing selection is comfort. In clothing choices; brand, hearing, client interview, working in the office in lawyers; for bankers, corporate identity, the branch where they work, executive meetings, company representative meetings; for teachers, fashion, teacher identity, official holidays, meetings, and seizures were found to be effective. It was determined that the clothing choices of the three occupational groups working in Izmir and Amasya were highly similar, but there was a difference in the sleeve lengths. While women working in Amasya mostly expressed their professional identities with short or long-sleeved models, it was determined that women working in İzmir expressed their professional identities with sleeveless models.
